Je Te Laisserai Des Mots by Patrick Watson

Y/N POV.

"Mmh..." I sigh as my eyes flutter awake, and I freeze at the sight in front of me.

The window of the room is still slightly ajar from my admiration of the city last night and gaps of sunlight peek through it, lighting up a small space of the bed right where I lay in. Well, I should rather say where we lay in. Ayato's blue hair is messy from his shifting in his sleep, the light shining behind him makes him look absolutely divine. He seems so peaceful right now, unlike the Ayato that I've always seen, who's always so busy and alert. The state of him contradicts to the image he holds as the Yashiro Commissioner and the Head of the Kamisato Clan. I don't even think before I reach out with my hands, brushing some of his hair away from his face. His eyes flutter open and our eyes meet.

"I'm surprised you didn't wake up and stop me immediately. As someone who's probably the target of many people, I expected a faster reaction , you know?" I tease him.

"Good morning, sunshine," He smiles. The name-calling catches me off guard and I must've blushed because he starts chuckling.

His morning voice sounds hot.

"Uhm... Morning," I smile back.

"You can go back to sleep if you want to, it's still early," He closes his eyes again.

"How do you know?" I raise an eyebrow, not letting the chance of watching such a handsome man sleep slip away from my fingers.

"Because I wake up early in the morning. So the fact that I'm awake now, means it's probably still very early. I finished my work last night, so let's just sleep, hmm?" He snuggles into the sheets. The pillows from last night are still between the both of us and it's making me a bit uncomfortable with the tight space on my side.

I should leave. This isn't appropriate for a noble much less, the Yashiro Commissioner...

"It's fine, really. I'll go wash up now. Go ahead and sleep in," I turn away, standing up onto the cool marble flooring. I hear a soft sigh from the back, the sheets rustling and by the time I turn back, Ayato is facing the other way, snuggling in the pillows. The sleeves of his nightwear reveal his toned arm, his skin almost porcelain-like as he bathes in the warmth of the sun.

He truly is ethereal.

...

The people gather together in the hall of the Jade Chamber, ready to leave for the Chasm and servants are scattered across the luxurious residence as Ningguang remains in her office, too busy to see us off.

"Paimon is still sleepy..." A soft voice appears.

"Are we ready?" Zhongli asks.

"No questions needed," Childe smiles, and we make our way towards the mysterious place.

The way there was... beautiful. Had it not been for the ominous energy that was surging from the bottom of the Chasm, it would have been much better. Most of the walking was just a comfortable silence, admiration of scenery, rustling of leaves, and the slow of time. Amber trees and blooming flowers smiled at us as we walked past them, with a faint play of music from Venti, the bard himself. I remind myself to imprint this in my head because who knows when I'll ever step foot outside of Inazuma again? I glance at Ayato who was admiring the scenery and I realise that we're both lacking behind from the group.

"So... Have you been to Liyue before?" And immediately after asking that question, I felt like slapping myself in the face because the answer was too obvious.
