CHAPTER 8
We stayed in that position for about a minute or so. His green eyes stared back at me with such intensity that even I couldn't figure out. All I could think was what he was thinking. What should I do?
I've always wondered how it feels like when girls get dipped by the guy they like. You know, from movies and books. Am I exaggerating? And plus, the way he looked at me was giving me the chills, the good kind.
That's when a Boyz II Men song came on from my mp3, and it got awkward. I purposely pulled away. My heartbeat won't slow down. It took me a moment to compose myself.
"What are you really doing here, Daniel?" I finally asked.
"Uhm.. uhh... The thing is, well, about what happened earlier by the pool." He paused. "I wanted to apologize. I really am sorry. And uhm... about what happened just now. I... uhh.... Nevermind. I'll see you tomorrow."
Umalis na ang mokong. Pinaka gwapong mokong na na encounter ko. Mas mabuti na siguro kasi I couldn't stop thinking about the way he looked at me and it's messing with my thoughts! I went back to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I was right, I was as red as a cherry lalo na ang pisngi ko. Nakakahiya naman.
I went to lock the door and made sure it was locked. Then I saw it. The tulip the he was holding earlier. He left it on top of the table.
And there was a note. A freaking note...
I'm sorry.
I woke up to my mom calling, asking me if I was okay and how my first night at the Belyakovs went. Of course, I lied and told her everything went well and everyone was really nice.
"Mag-ingat ka anak ha. Day-off ko sa Thursday, gusto mo kain tayo sa labas?" My mom asked.
"Of course, mom! I'll come home on Thursday morning. I just have to ask Mr. Dane first. Gotta go, mom. Gigisingin ko pa ang kambal. Love you!"
Before I went to wake up the twins, I dropped by the kitchen. Their house help already prepared breakfast and told me Dane already left.
"Does he even sleep at all?"
"That's the amazing thing about Mr. Belyakov. It's like he's a vampire. A hot Russian vampire. Also, let's not forget he's a bachelor." The help said in her accent. I wasn't too sure where she was from, but according to the kids, their father took her in from a small town in northern Europe. The people in this house continue to amaze me, and I smiled at the thought.
We were both quiet for a while thinking about a Russian vampire and we both blushed.
"That! That, Sarah is one heck of a choice for our breakfast." "Pero we should keep this to ourselves, huh. If the other brother hears us talking highly about Dane, his narcissistic side comes out and he's gonna take it out on us again."
Sarah laughed and said, "No, little girl. He's going to take it out on you. For some reason he's always on your case. Is he in love with you or something?" I choked on the toast for a bit but didn't say anything and let her continue talking.
"In my country, when a guy is constantly mean to a certain girl and is friendly with the others, it means that the guy has feeling for the girl. He's just too shy and prideful."
