CHAPTER 2
“You! Kaitlyn! You! How dare you ruin my game!?” Sinigawan ba naman ako.
“What the heck did I do?”
He was about to yell again, but he surprisingly stopped. “You told Jessica, the girl earlier, that I had… that I have herpes!”
Awkward silence… then pfffftttttt! “Herpes? Oh my gosh, Daniel! You have herpes?!!!” I kept laughing and laughing until my stomach started hurting.
He pushed me against his car and stared at me. “I’m serious, Kaitlyn Whatever-Your-Last-Name-Is.”
“That hurts, Daniel.” I pleaded because it did hurt.
“You really think because you helped me with classwork you have an upper hand against all the other girls? Don’t hope, Kaitlyn. Glupetz.”
“Heh. Do you really think so, Daniel?”
“If you think that I’ll ever fall for you then think again because I’ll never fall in love with a girl like you.”
I know for sure na hindi ako IN LOVE kay Daniel. Pero dito sa Miami, kung sasabihan mo lang ang tao na you like him, agad agad nilang iisipin na you’re in love with the person. Gusto ko lang talaga si Daniel. Ang motto ko naman in life is ‘Not to fall in love… unless they’re fictional characters’.
And also, just because I chose not to fall in love doesn’t mean hindi ako nasasaktan. Hindi ko rin mapigilang umiyak, pero tiniis kong huwag patuluin ang luha kasi I wanted to show him that I was still strong.
“Mr. Belyakov, sorry to burst your bubble. I only told you once, ONCE, that I like you. I did not say I was in love with you. Also, I did not tell that girl you had herpes, I only told her that I saw you hooking up with another girl and she screamed and ran. I did not say anything else. Get your hands off me, you jerk.”
I started walking away, but I ended up turning back.
“If you must know, you’re a disrespectful little piece of shit. Thank heavens I won’t be seeing you after today. Unless… you want to come to my party? I know your obsession with parties, Mr. Belyakov. You see, I’m not a cool kid or a cool adult that you want, but I can be fun too. You just didn’t make the effort to get to know me better. And with that, I’ll be out of your life. You’ll be hearing about my party details from the others soon.”
Tinawagan ko best-friend ko so we could meet at the park right across our campus. Pagkatapos ng nangyari, this was the best time to calm myself.
“Katie!”
Sofia awkwardly ran to where I was sitting.
“Sorry kung naistorbo kita. Kelangan ko lang talaga ng kasama ngayon.”
Ang cute talaga ng ngiti ni Sofia, para lang 10 years old eh. Best friend ko si Sofia, we met a month after kami lumipat dito sa Miami from the Philippines, almost 10 years na rin.
