CHAPTER 10

Thursday came and I got ready to leave early in the morning. I didn't wait for the Belyakovs since they knew that I had requested this day off. I met up with Sarah in the kitchen and left her some notes for the kids to review.

"Guess who was talking to Dane last night about a certain kiss?"

I stiffened. "Don't start with me, Sarah. I'm not gonna tell you. EVER!"

Then I ran away, like a chicken.

Kaitlyn, is a chicken.

Then I heard a rooster from afar, calling the old souls in the morning. Oh, the irony...

I drove off with my beat-up 2007 Honda Civic that was parked behind the house because I was too embarrassed to park it in the front garage with their beautiful and exotic cars. I remembered the first time I visited their house, and when I got off my car, Daniel was there too and he looked at me, to the car behind me, then back at me. He literally scoffed loudly when he closed the door to his brand new Lexus. I gazed at the rear-view mirror with the fading view of their estate, then the scene kept replaying in my mind...

It happened. I did kiss Daniel in the spur of the moment. I remembered the look he had before I did the unimaginable. He may be mean and a jerk most of the times, but I know that he had an amazing upbringing.

To my surprise, he didn't pull me away and he responded to the kiss. For me, it lasted too long, and it was great. I liked it so much that I didn't want to pull away. His hand was behind my head and the other around my waist, and he carried me under the water to where the stairs were. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer.

I wrapped my arms...

Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! Oh my freaking sh*t! What the... what am I doing?!!!!

The moment I realized what I had done, I instantly pulled away.

Hindi ko sinadyang itulak siya ng malakas. Then his face was just surprised.

I told myself as I walked back to the pool house without looking back.

Iniwasan ko siya simula nun.

"Kaitlyn! Anak! Helloooo!" Then I snapped back to reality. I saw my mom knocking on my car window.

"Ay ma! Pasensya na po." I unlocked the car and she got in the passenger side.

"Mukhang malalim ang iniisip natin ha... boy problems?" She snickered.

"Maaaa!!!!" I denied, although she was a hundred percent right. Totoo talaga yung sinasabi nila na 'Mother knows best'.

"Alam mo anak, lahat ng babae dumadaan diyan. Kahit nga ako, nung nasa edad mo palang ako, nakaranas rin ako ng ganyan. Look at the things right now, you're here and you're growing up so beautifully. I couldn't ask for more." Mrs. Villanueva said. "Pero, just remember that not all first loves last. You don't have to be same as your dad and I. It's just that, when your father and I got together I knew that he was the one."

"But ma, won't you think that to all the guys that you've been with?" I asked her, and she laughed. My mother's laugh was cute and a memory creeped in my thoughts when my dad always reminded me that he fell in love with my mom's laugh.

"Anak, hindi ko alam. Daddy mo lang nakasama ko eh." Then she winked at me, and I rolled my eyes.

"I know."

'D-I-Y revamping of the apartment' daw sabi niya. I offered my help, but she insisted that she'd do it alone.

"I want it to be a surprise, and I want to get rid of some old things too. I'll donate them though. Gusto ko rin tapusin bago ka uuwi ng Pilipinas."

"Ma, if you need any help with just moving heavy things, tawagan mo lang ako. Pupunta ako agad, pati na rin si Sofia."

She nodded and eventually the day ended and I dropped her off at the apartment. I also grabbed more clothes and left.

It was also refreshing when she talked about Dad. They were each other's first loves! As crazy as it sounds, it's true. They met during their college days and the rest was history. Noon pa, gusto ko talagang ma-experience yung love story just like my parents. As I was growing up, I could tell that Dad really loved Mom and I wanted to have a love story just like theirs. Ang aga kong nag hanap ng love without understanding what it really meant. Panay lecture lang ang natanggap ko from my dad. "Look at yourself, Kaitlyn, you're doing things that doesn't make sense. When you search for love, it won't come to you. It'll never appear. Or it might be a devil dressed up as love..."

And he was right. After a couple of heartbreaks, napagod na ako. I barely turned eighteen and by the time I did, Dad finally let go and left us eternally. Mas mabuti pa nga yun, kasi at least ngayon nasa masayang lugar na siya and he's not suffering anymore. Nandun ako when Dad took his last breath. I think he was just waiting for my mom to accept reality.

"I'll still love you..." Mom said as she gripped Dad's hands.

Dad smiled and said, "Kahit ilang taon na ang nakalipas, hinding hindi ko malilimutan ang 'Karen ng San Domingo', kasama kong kumakain ng isaw sa kanto. Naaalala mo 'yun? Una tayong nagkakilala nun, tapos nakatitig lang ako sayo. 'Di ko na namalayan yung sauce na tumulo na pala at namansiyahan yung white polo ko? Tapos pinag-tawanan mo ako."

"Ang tagal na nun..." Mom was holding back her tears, but she still laughed at the memory. My dad smiled again.

"That's what I was waiting... I want to hear the beautiful laughter of my wife before I go."

I was astounded by the bond that they had till the very end.

"Till death do us part..." Mom said very seriously, still crying.

Dad was quiet for a bit, but then he broke the silence. "Ay hindi ma, may forever! Hashtag forevermore nga diba? Hashtag LizQuen tayo diba?"

My mom was shocked at what my dad said, but she still burst out laughing. She laughed for a good minute, and I did too, silently. "Ayan ka nanaman with your funny bone, hon."

Thenall we could hear was a single beep from the monitor. Flat line.

-------------------------------------

A/N: hi  everyone! Here is the long-awaited Chapter 10!

You guys should scold me and demand! I've been extremely busy and I rarely use my laptop anymore. But, next update should be next month! Before Valentine's Day?  I was thinking of making a Valentine's Day special story, it's going to be different characters though. But, with my schedule and trips, I just hope I get to have time.

Thank you so much for everyone! For the votes, adding to your reading list, and etc. Salamat po talaga! Mahal ko kayo! Without readers and feedbacks, Kaitlyn and Daniel wouldn't happen!

I really hope you enjoyed this chapter! Please share your thoughts and what you think so far! I wanna hear some feedback from everyone. I think this is my favorite chapter so far, because we get to see some of Kaitlyn's past, especially her father!

Just a flashback of Daniel in this chapter, because I think I'd die of too much nosebleed and maybe cardiac arrest if Daniel shows up all the time. HAHAHA! We have to keep our heartbeats normal, right?

See you on the next chapter! :)
