Unexpected Fate

Chapter 3: Cherry Blossom Festival

As the class ended, Yuina and her friends met up outside of the campus, waiting for the former's brother to show up.

"Your brother sure is late" Mayzie said

"He might still be doing something... Wait lemme call him" Yuina takes out her phone and dials her brother's number.

After a few rings, he finally answered,

"Hello?"

"Brother"

"Yuina? Is there something wrong? Why did you call?"

"Oh uhmm, are you still doing something? My friends and I have finished our classes and we're here waiting in front of the gates"

"I see, don't wait for me you can go on ahead. I'll see you at home, Lex and I are still finishing up some paperworks that the headmaster asked us to sign"

"Oh, actually brother there's something I wanted to ask you, so I'll just wait for you guys here"

"Can't you just tell me about it now?"

"No, I wanted to ask you in person"

"Alright then, I'll finish this up quickly and meet you there"

"Alright, see you soon, brother" She hung up the call and put away her phone.

"So, was he still busy?" Mayzie asked

"Yes, he said that they were still working with the paperworks that the headmaster asked them to sign" she replied

"Oh, alright, then we'll wait" Mayzie sits down on one of the benches

"They might take too long to finish and you both still need to prepare before we go to the festival later" Yuina looks at them worriedly

"Don't worry about it, we can still spare a few minutes" Yuzurina said as she sits beside their strawberry haired friend

She sighs and agrees, "Oh, okay then"

After a few moments, Shinku called out as he approach them,

"Yuina"

"Brother!"

"I came here as fast as I could, I don't want you waiting here for hours" he pats his sister's head and she looks up at him,

"But what about the work you were doing?"

"I ask Lex to handle it for a while first, there's not much left so he agreed to"

"I see" Yuina looks down nervously

Breaking the tense atmosphere, he questioned, "So what did you want to ask me about?"

"Actually brother, I wanted to ask your permission"

"Hmm about what?"

"The Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at the town later and I was wondering if I could join my friends?" She asked while lightly scratching her cheek

There was a long silence as Shinku contemplates whether to agree or not until he remembered the things Lex mentioned a while ago,

'Let her have some fun Shinku, it's nice to see that you would protect your sister no matter what, but don't hold her back with the things she wanted to experience that some royals won't be able to do, due to being in the heirarchy'

He wants her to be out of danger but he also don't want to spoil her fun. He can't afford to see her being so downhearted again, just like that time after that incident 10 years ago.
