Chapter 19: When Nightmares From The Past Comes Back

Patapos na ang klase ngunit hindi ko parin makalimutan ang pagtitig sa akin ni Elaina. I was very confused about why she's been staring at me and thinking about something deeply. Hindi kaya ako yung iniisip niya?

Okay, that's very assuming pero hindi naman kasi siya titig sa akin ng ganun kung hindi. Maybe I made her upset? Did I do something wrong? Palabas na kami ng gate and I was surprised nang makasalubong namin naman ang dapat ipakakasal sa asawa ko ngayon aka my older brother, Aeneas William Valmont. Anak siya ng tatay ko sa una. He's not even a Valmont but 'that lady' kept him under her wing and when she ran away, Grandmother took care of him

"Liam" I spoke as he flashed a smile. We're not in good terms kaya nakakapagtaka ay nakangiti siya ngayon. Don't tell me a 30-year-old man like him took an interest in a 16-year-old? I'll beat the shit out of him if he did

"I would prefer you calling me Kuya, little sis" sambit nito at ginulo ang buhok ko. What the hell?! I fixed my hair and glanced at him "I rather would not. Baka inaakalang mo na kinalimutan ko na ang lahat ng nangyari 7 years ago" I spoke coldly. He smiled "Move on, Octavia. Kailangan mo yon"

"Ano bang ginagawa mo dito? Kanina si Obsidian nagpakita na dito, ngayon naman ikaw. Aren't you in New York?" tanong ko rito. He gave me a confused look "No one told you? We're meeting Mom" 

Tila natigil ang mundo ko nang marinig iyon. That lady?! Hindi ko alam kung anong mararamdaman ko. Galit, kaba, takot at lungkot, halo halo ko itong nararamdaman. Hindi pwede, ayoko siyang makita. The two figures suddenly grew worried when they saw my expression

Hindi ako makahinga

"It's been 12 years, Tavia. Patawarin mo na siya-" I cut him off harshly, irritation and anger heard in my voice "I was 5 years old, Liam. We all know what happened that day"

"I know, Octavia, I remember it like it was yesterday, but please. Grandmother isn't taking no for an answer"

I closed my eyes and sighed heavily "Fine, lead the way" sabi ko as he led us to his limousine. I glanced at Elaina, a worried look on her face. Nginitian ko naman ito at pumasok na sa loob ng kotse. Once the three of us are inside, the engine started as the chauffeur led us to our destination. Liam and Elaina chatted like a big brother to his little sister which is good. I won't worry about him flirting with a 16-year-old who is my wife. 

I was only silent. Hindi ko alam kung anong mangyayari kapag nakita ko siya. Hindi ako handa na makita siya. Sure, I see her in TV shows, dramas and stuff pero this time kaharap ko siya, personal ko siyang makikita

And that is not what I'm ready 

I closed my eyes and leaned my head on the soft leather chair. This day was stressful. Paolo. The campaign money. Her. Fuck, everything except Elaina!

Hindi ko na namalayang nakaidlip na ko dahil sa kakaisip

"Hon, wake up, andito na tayo" 

I opened my eyes as I felt Elaina's thumb rubbing my cheek, waking me up gently. I saw her smiling while that bastard is smirking. I nodded slowly as the chauffeur opened the door for us. I thanked him and waited for Elaina to walk out. Nakakapagtaka na tumigil kami sa harap ng isang restuarant when we could've done this stupidity in one of the estates

We entered the restaurant, my hand intertwined with Elaina's. The waitress bowed and led us to a private area. Pansin ko ang mga tingin ng mga tao na kumakain dito, nagulat siguro dahil andidito ako at si Elaina

Nakaramdam ako ng kaba ng nasa pinto na kami ng private area namin. Elaina held my tensed shoulder as I breathed heavily "Pwede naman kita i-excuse, Octavia. Sabihin ko masama pakiramdam mo kaya di na kita pinasama" sabi ni Liam sa likod ko. I gulped and shook my head "Grandmother wants me to be here. As the leader of this damned clan, I must be present, kahit na ayaw kong makita ang babaeng nasa loob" I spoke as I opened the sliding door

I looked at Olivia and Obsidian na magkatabing nakaupo habang si Lola naman ay nakaupo sa dulo but most importantly, I saw her. Tama nga sila, our features where the same, sa kanya ako nagmana.  My chest tightened even more

"Octavia, William, and Elaina, it's a good thing you could join us" sambit ni Lola, giving us a soft smile kahit na alam kong against siya sa kasal namin ni Elaina. After all, pinilit ko lang naman ito para hindi makasal si Elaina kay Liam. Liam walked inside at naupo sa kabilang gilid ni Lola, making him beside my- her.

"Octavia..." she called. Iniiwas ko ang tingin ko sa kanya at naupo sa kabilang dulo ng lamesa while Elaina sat on beside me, being on the row of Olivia and Obsidian "Greetings, Mrs. Aumberden" ani ko at tumingin sa kanya ng malamig

"Octavia, she's our-"

"You mean she's your mother dahil sa pagkakaalam ko I lost my mother when I was 5, Dian" sagot ko rito. Natahimik naman si Obsidian "Tavia, let's be civil, okay? Please?" Ate Olivia said, making me grit my teeth

Elaina held my hand at mas nainis pa ko dahil nakakahiya itong pamilyang to. I sighed "Alright, Ate, civil"

"Now, tell me, what is it you want this time?"
