Bodyguard of Lies

I was in the shared tent with Tavia putting war paint on my face while she did my hair.

"Tavia?"

"Yes Rora?"

"I was thinking... how did Clarke and Heda make it out without a scratch on them? They were in perfect health... it doesn't-"

"I was thinking of the exact same thing. It doesn't make sense and I'll confront Clarke when I get the chance." Tavia reassured

I nodded before we headed out and sat at a small campfire.

Later, Clarke came out of Heda's tent and walked up to us.

"How's it going?" Clarke asked

"I've been going over it in my head trying to figure out how you're still alive." Tavia said with no expression

"I don't know what you're talking about." Clarke lied

"We saw you in Tondc before the missile hit." I remind

"I know you Clarke. Rora especially. Something's up. And then you and Lexa disappear out of nowhere and magically survive?" Tavia seethed

"Clarke, tell me you didn't know the missile was coming. That you wouldn't let our people die— your mother, Clarke." I spat, already knowing the answer

Clarke looked down and pressed her lips together, deep in thought.

"I..."

"You let all those people die. You were goanna let us die!" Tavia says as she stood up

"I did it to save your brother. So we could win this war. Don't you understand? If we would have evacuated, the mountain men would have known we had an inside man. They would have found Bellamy." Clarke tried defending

"No. Bellamy would have never told you to do that. He would have found another way." Tavia fired back

"I couldn't take that risk." Clarke frowned

"Oh right because you're in charge now and you get to decide whose disposable! You would have fit right in on the Council." I mock before walking off with Tavia

"Hey wait!" Clarke stopped us

"What?" We ask

"You can't tell anyone... if people found out that-"

"The alliance will break." I cut her off

"We're not idiots, Clarke." Tavia rolled her eyes

We walk up to the commander and greet her

"It's time for the rotation. You should go now." The guard informs

"Indra is expecting us to be on the scouting mission. With Lincoln." Tavia says

"And now you're needed elsewhere. Except for Aurora. You will stay on the scouting mission with the others. Indra will join you shortly, Octavia." The man reassures

Heda nods to Octavia and I watch her walk off.

"Flashen-de!" (The signal!)

I look up to see a bright red flare which caused a smile to appear on my face.

Bellamy did it.

"Teik em laud, tromon-de." (Sound the horn) Heda ordered

A grounder nodded and blew into a horn.

"Kom wor!" (To war!) Heda yelled earning a loud roar of cheers

I was currently walking next to Tavia and Indra. We were getting closer and closer to Mount Weather and I couldn't help but grow more and more nervous. I mean I'm literally 10 and fighting in a war.

"You good?" Tavia asks

I nod, "I have to be."

Of course, Clarke falls behind to talk to us.

"What do you want?" Tavia asks

"I'm changing your mission you aren't going to the mines with Indra. I'm placing you in the rear guard where you'll be safe." Clarke says

"Like hell you are, I don't take orders from you. I take orders from Indra. Aurora doesn't need to listen to you too. she needs to be with me because she safer by my side." Tavia reasoned

"She's 10 years old." Clarke disagrees

"And she's right here listening to your conversation." I grumble

"Clarke, I know you're worried because I'm younger but I've been working so much, putting hours into training." I roll my eyes

"Look, I'm just trying to protect you two." Clarke said

"Protect us..." I scoff

"One day you'll understand what I did." Clarke reassured

"Never. We'll fight this war with you now because we want our friends back but after that, we're done." Tavia says and I nod in agreement

Clarke can't just decided who lives and dies and pretend like we'll be okay with it. She was willing to let us die and now she wants to "protect us"? Clarke isn't the same anymore...

Indra walks up to us and tells Clarke Heda's looking for her. Clarke nods and walks away.

"What was that about?" Indra asks

"Clarke tried to reassign us to the rear guard." Tavia explains

"You're warriors. You'll be at the mines with me. I know it bothers you. How they knew about the missile." Indra whispered the last part

"How could you not hate them?" I question

"Indra, they almost killed you." Tavia reminded

"They didn't. The enemy did. Lexa is a ruthless commander which is why she is a great leader. It is why we will win this war." Indra sighed

"That's wrong." I say

"That's war." Indra fires back before letting out a war cry

Tavia and I exchange glances before letting out loud war cries along with the other grounders as we near Mount Weather.
