A few hours had passed since a certain brunette detective had unwillingly set a certain passed-out ginger against a tree where he could rest safely until someone came to retrieve him.  He even went out of his way to send a message to Hirotsu to come pick up the cranky child.  Yet here he was now getting the cold shoulder from his girlfriend for not treating Chuuya properly and for not taking the mission seriously.

Actually, that was his excuse for her giving him the cold shoulder... she was actually giving him the cold shoulder because he claimed she must have loved the snotty red head for making him take care of the ginger and call for someone.  That didn't roll over well with her... in fact she took it quite personally, which was rather unlike her.

Y/n was sitting in her "single-seater" reclining chair beside her cat, Mochi, who was staring Dazai down hard.  The cat knew his owner was upset with the detective and refused to offer whatever small space was available on the recliner to the man.  Instead, Dazai stood behind the chair drying his wet hair while also partaking in a glaring contest with the white feline.

Had he really messed up enough to get this kind of treatment?  Why on earth was she so mad?  Was there something else bothering her and she just happened to be taking it out on him?  That has to be what's going on...

He took a step towards the chair, making the cat's hair stand up and a warning hiss slip from its mouth.  Usually, Y/n would shoo the beast away with a chastisement, but this time she began to pet the cat— praising its behavior.

He took another tentative step toward the chair.
And another.
And another.

Until he stood directly behind the upset woman.  Y/n could feel him lean down and bravely wrap his arms around her, giving her a hug from above.  He sighed out an apology.

"Look, I'm sorry... but that guy just brings out the worst in me...  that's not an excuse though.  Are you okay?"

Y/n could feel a pair of lips gently press against her forehead as her face was turned towards the TV in front of her.

She looked up at the man who was looking down at her when she said, "Do you have any idea how scared I was when you pulled that trick with your arm? Dazai, I felt like my world stopped... I was so— I was so scared!  And then you go and say I love another guy... That was a low blow..."

His eyes fell downcast at her words. They struck him to his core. Her world felt like it stopped. Has anyone ever worried that much about me?  Has anyone ever loved me like this?  Why did I say she didn't love me?  That was a lapse of judgment on my part...

It was nice to hear someone so worried about him, but it also made him feel guilty for ever making her worry.  He softly muttered out, "I'm so sorry, belladonna.  I won't do anything like that ever again."

She could feel her face flush against her brain's wishes to remain mad at him. She really had a soft spot for this overgrown child and his silver tongue. But he really didn't take this mission seriously at all!

"I'm mad at something else too..."

He leaned down closer to her as he inquired, "Tell me what it is and I'll never do it ever again."

She rolled her eyes as she said, "I know you have a past with that guy, but when you're on an unofficial joint mission, you need to treat him like you would if he was your real partner."

Dazai scowled as he said, "That is how I treated him as my partner— actually I treated him far better tonight than—"

Y/n quickly turned her head away from him and began to stare at the TV again, cutting off his excuse mid-complaint. This caused the man to circle around to the front of the chair and block her view of the TV.
