Hello everyone, this chapter does have depictions of violence and/or death.  Any Italicised text is from (Y/n)'s flashbacks, and those are a decent indicator of trauma in the past.  Please skip the italicized text in this chapter if you are uncomfortable reading about these subjects :)

It was a clear night at one of the abandoned ports. A full moon illuminated the sky and the ocean resting beneath it. It was a beautiful night just like any other. She was sitting on an old wooden dock with two young children, one on either side of her. She looked to her left and saw a young girl with short wavy-black hair and golden eyes. To her right, was a young boy with the same black unruly hair and deep golden eyes. She was happy with them, but she recognized this scene and she despised the disaster that came after.

The ring of two gunshots was all she needed to hear to turn the beautiful night into a terror that haunted her to this day.

BANG!

BANG!

She shot up in bed before hitting her head on something HARD and slumping back down in pain. She heard a thump on the floor next to her before turning towards the noise while rubbing her head.

"Ouch, [Y/n]... What on earth had you screaming like that?"

She didn't need to begin to think about the twins again, not with Atsushi and the young Kyoka suddenly appearing in her life. She needed to stay grounded in the present and not let her past haunt her.

It was only a dream... they will not die...

It was only a dream... they will not die...

"It was only a dream, now calm down and focus on my voice."

Her eyes shot open before she met the chestnut gaze that had seemed to bring her comfort as of late.  She really did have a thing for the suicidal detective, didn't she?

He was holding onto her arms while kneeling in front of her as the moonlight highlighted his features. He was in only his white button-up with a pair of boxers on. But she didn't care about his lack of clothes, she only cared about focusing on her breaths as he asked.

After a few minutes of him speaking calmly to her, she began breathing evenly and she could no longer feel her pulse racing in her ears.

She swallowed hard before she felt a bandaged hand rest on her cheek. Her eyes met his as he rubbed his thumb across her cheek in a soothing motion, causing her eyes to close slightly.

"You're crying again...  For some reason seeing you cry hurts a little, why are you crying?"

"It's just a dream... my past."

He nodded knowingly before taking his hand off her face and saying, "We all have something, don't we? Do you want to tell me about it after we get changed?  The hotel provided sleeping yukatas for us."

She nodded before Dazai stood and walked away from her into a room off to the side of where she laid on a large futon. It was dark in the room, but she could make out a small kitchen area and a door off to the side of the room.  It was a beautiful room with perhaps the softest futon she'd ever slept on, though that may be her lingering hangover trying to convince her to go to sleep again.

Dazai had come back to her and he held out a plain white yukata with a pair of shorts, underwear, and a bra. She blinked at the man before blushing and examing the underwear and bra while saying, "T-these are mine! H-how? When did you--"

"Last night when I took you home, I asked you for a pair and you gave them to me."

"H-huh! I gave them to you?!"
