It was as if time had stopped.

Taehyung froze in his position. Confusion was written all over his face.

Your face was stony, but you held his eyes.

He needed to know you were being serious.

You could tell he didn't want to accept it.

As the seconds passed, he desperately searched your face for a trace of dishonesty.

But he couldn't find one.

You watched his whole world crumble in front of your eyes.

Your eyes watered.

"W-what?"

His voice was barely a whisper.

You didn't reply. Your voice was choked up in your throat, and you were afraid it would crack with the weight of what you would now have to tell him.

His hands slipped out of yours.

You weren't able to keep a hold on them.

"W-what- no, no- tell me you're joking!"

You looked down to your feet.

You opened your mouth to speak, but his cold voice stopped you.

"You're not joking."

Finally, you looked back up to met his eyes.

Tears were running down his cheeks, and he harshly wiped them off.

He was utterly broken.

And it was because of you.

"I- I'm sorry, Taehyung. I didn't want to tell you- I wasn't supposed to-"

"So you were supposed to hide this from me my whole life?! You lied to-"

"No! I told you this wasn't the time! I was going to tell you-"

"When? When were you going to tell me this?"

You paused.

When were you going to tell him?

You were never supposed to tell him.

Yet you knew that some day you would have to.

Not everything can remain hidden.

You just weren't expecting it to be today.

Right now.

So you diverted.

"I only didn't tell you because Aunty told me not to, okay? Because all it'd do was hurt you, stress you out. But you insisted I told you, and you would hate me if I didn't. But you're going to hate me now because I did."

You sighed, stopping the tears from falling.

"Taehyung, for goodness sake, everything I ever did for you was  for your own good! I wasn't hiding this from you because I wanted to, I was hiding it because I knew it would hurt you!"

He scoffed.

"Didn't you think it'd hurt me if you didn't tell me? How would you feel if someone, your own twin, suddenly told you you'd been living your whole life a lie?!"

You were silent again.

He was right.

Sooner or later, the cat would've had to come out of the bag.

And you had known that when it did, people were going to be hurt.

Especially when you find out your loved ones had been hiding such a big secret.

Something that changes your life entirely.

So finally, you decided to tell him the truth.

Well, part of the truth.

The rest would come later.

Sighing heavily, you gently grasped his arm. He flinched, but didn't jerk away.

You led him to a nearby bench, and sat him down.

Facing him, you began.

"There was an accident, when we were 9. Around a month after mum and dad died."
