James flinched slightly as Moony laughed out loud and Padfoot tried get close and observe the pus filled warts on his face.

"Stop laughing Moony, it hurts. Who knew Snape could pack this much in a simple hex," He whined.

Moony continued laughing, touching his side and hitting the pillow on his bed.

Padfoot grinned mercilessly, "Now you see how I felt when Snape threw that Stinging Hex at me, also, wasn't it you that said we should steer clear of him and that he was stronger than we thought?"

Moony sobered up at that, "You really said that?" He said, looking at James with curiosity.

James cleared his throat, "Well, he proved to be a worthy foe and you also seemed to care about him and our bothering." James said, fidgeting slightly.

Moony smiled, "That doesn't excuse what you said to Severus, if you really want to apologize then you have to be more firm about it, he may be difficult to deal with, but as long as you're earnest then he's bound to give in."

James nodded seriously at that, as if he was listening to a mentor give him advice.

"Wait, you're seriously considering this Prongs?" Padfoot said, wide eyed and arms outstretched.

"You said that we would never apologize to Snape no matter what!" Padfoot went on.

James shook his head, "We said we would never apologize unless we wanted to. I want to, also, didn't you say you would apologize to Snape if that meant that Moony would finally forgive us?"

"You said that?" Moony replied in shock.

Padfoot turned beet red.

"I thought we agreed to never talk about that!" Was his reply.

"Aww you really love me don't you Padfoot!" Moony laughed.

"I do not!" He yelled.

James felt his hands get sweaty as he watched the scary entity that he had to approach focused on his essay and books on the table in the far back of the library, Severus Snape sat there without a care in the world, his sleeves rolled up and his hair pulled back in a half up half down. His forehead was scrunched up as he read along the lines of the book he was holding, his robes somehow were still kept neatly unlike James' own robes that were ruffled and wrinkled from playing around with Padfoot.

James took a few steps forward and paused five feet away from the table at which Snape was sat, as if sensing his presence Snape glanced up at him the moment James lifted his leg up to take another step. James froze, so did Snape.

Snape then narrowed his eyes at James like he had been doing for the past week, yes, the past week. James had been trying  to muster the courage to apologize to Snape for an entire week, that was longer than the time he needed to gather the courage to tell Lily his feelings for her. The only difference was that those times, James only made eye contact with Snape from a distance. This time he was close to Snape, and the ferocity of those eyes almost made him run back with his tail between his legs. Since when did Snape become so scary?

James gulped and stealthily made his way to the chair opposite to Snape under the scrutinizing gaze of the Slytherin. James was happy that Moony kept his word of trying to soften Snape in regards to him as Snape did not pull his wand out at him, James' face still stung from the hex Snape threw at him. It still did not make being in close proximity with Snape easy, Snapes' gaze was filled with resentment and a glint that told James that he would castrate him, what gave James the chills was that he knew that Snape was capable of doing so if he wanted to.

"Uhh.. Hi," James said nervously, avoiding Snapes gaze as much as possible.

Snape did not reply, he just continued to stare at James, James felt like he was a prey and that Snape was a predator observing him and waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

"I think Moony mentioned that I've been hoping to apologize to you, for y'know..." James trailed off.

"For what Potter?" Snape said coldly, while shutting the book that he was reading swiftly, interlocking his fingers together and resting his head on it. It made him appear a lot more intimidating than before. James felt like a misbehaving child being reprimanded by the principal of his school.

"For what happened that night when Sirius called you a.." James could not finish his sentence, as Snape glared at him even harsher than before.

"You really are an idiot Potter! Is that really all that you have to apologize for?" He asked.

"What about the five years of my life spent being chased by you and your lot for absolutely no sensible reason! I don't understand why I even bothered to listen to what you had to say, I should just hex you into oblivion instead," Snape went on viciously, he looked like he was genuinely holding himself back.

He released a deep breath, calming himself down and then looked at James once more, "Potter what do you hope to achieve with this? Do you hope to show Lily that you're a bigger person or something? Do you hope to conduct the prank of the century on slimy old Snivellus? I told you before --- Leave me alone! That would make both our lives easier, you tell the whole world a lie that makes you seem favourable and makes me villainous, something along the lines of how you were being the noble Gryffindor you are and how I'm the wicked Slytherin. Just please leave me the fuck alone!"

James leaned backwards in his chair as the Slytherin concluded his rant, that was the first time James heard Snape speak so passionately, what shocked him more was how he became fascinated by the angry Slytherin more than anything. Snape was insulting him but James found that he did not mind that at all, instead, he found himself agreeing with Snape.

He's a terrible person and he does not deserve Snapes forgiveness, there were so many things that he needed to apologize for when it came Snape, he should have learned that the first time.

He stood up quickly, he suddenly had an idea, he stumbled and mumbled a weak apology about disturbing Snape and rushed out of the library.

He was going to earn Snapes forgiveness no matter what.
