Extra - Sneaking Away

Toby and I sneak through the hallways, listening carefully to the sounds of everyone throughout the house. It is daytime and I am still getting used to being outside of my room at this time. The sunlight makes everything seem different. It all looks normal. Compared to when I was sneaking around in the night, everything was covered in darkness and shadows. It was easy to believe that things were hidden. Yet during the day in a house with a fair amount of natural sunlight, everything is out in the open for everyone to see. Secrets are exposed for anyone to see.

Toby and I have made a sort of game out of running around during the day. We try to keep me hidden and away from everyone else while roaming around. To do this, we keep quiet and listen to our surroundings. It gets hard sometimes. Between the small talk and running around trying to hide, giggles are common. Whenever we hear someone approaching we duck into the nearest hiding spot possible. Empty rooms, closets, behind furniture. Anything that we could get away with. The house is large, so we are easily able to find someplace to hide.

The other people who live here must think we are crazy. Or maybe they do not care enough to judge. Either way, I have fun. I never thought that I would enjoy myself here. Yet running around with Toby really lifts my spirits. I feel like a kid again. The careless fun of playing made-up games is what I missed most about growing up.

I hear footsteps coming from the adjacent hallway. Toby hears it too, putting a finger to his lips to shush me and looking around. He opens a closet door and ushers me into it. We both pile in and shut the door behind us. I have to cover my mouth to stifle a laugh. From his chest, I can hear Toby try to hold in a chuckle as well.

Footsteps never do pass the closet, so they must have gone elsewhere. Still, we do not exit the closet. Instead, Toby reaches up to cup my cheek. He brings me close to him. I allow my eyes to close as the distance between us shrinks. Fireworks shoot off in my chest as he kisses me. I wrap my arms around his waist and hold him close. Toby kisses me over and over and over. When he starts to separate, I lean in for another kiss. And the cycle starts again. My back hits the wall of the closet as Toby leans in more and more. I let the passion take over all my senses. No more do I listen to my surroundings. At this very moment, I focus on Toby. The sweet taste of his slightly chapped lips against mine is divine. He has a small amount of stubble that scratches against my skin. I can smell the shampoo he used last, too.  Everything about him drives me crazy. I yearn for more.

After a while, we break apart. I try to catch my breath. Toby chuckles and looks away. I can see a blush cross his cheeks. He is insanely cute whenever he acts shy after being so confident making out with me.

We leave the closet, deciding to end the game. At least for now. After all, we just got our prize.
