"okay, so,... " you start, nervously glancing around your bedroom as you sit on your bed, absently toying with a stuffed bunny as you hold your phone between your shoulder and head.

"at dinner tonight, t-that's when we put the plan into motion? or-...."

"yes, yes," a nonchalant voice encourages on the other side of the line, and while he sounds careless, he's given this plan a whole lot more thought than he lets on. "and don't be worried about it," he reassures you, almost as if he can sense your unseen apprehension. you listen closely to his words, tucking away every sentence into the backrooms of your brain.

"it'll be okay- and it's only for the plan, yeah? so... so don't take it ta heart."

"y/n...?"

"yeah, yeah-" you quickly nod your head at his statement, pulling the pale-pink bunny into your lap as you eye the closed door carefully. you know that this wasn't very right, what you were plotting.

"i know," you clarify softly. "i'll try my best, okay? but are you sure-"

"yah," he cuts you off with a reliable tone, and you can't help but sigh with slight relief as you sink back against your mattress, stray sunrays from the blinds falling choppily over your face as you stare up at the ceiling. "i swear, it'll be fine, y/n. so while me n' samu get ready- samu, say hi-"

("hi.")

"hi, samu!"

"while me n' samu get ready, i want you to calm yer nerves, kay? are ya already ready?"

"just about," you nod slightly.

"good," you know he's grinning without even seeing it.
"so then just finish up, n' then relax until the time comes."

"yeah,... so- so i'll see you guys then! tell samu i said bye!!!"

("bye, y/n.")

"bye, samu, tsumu!"

"yup, see ya later."

"see ya, too!!"

the phone hangs up, and you find yourself heaving a sigh as you pray to God the plan goes well. you vaguely wondered why you were even partaking in this plan, but you were a crucial key, atsumu told you. the main picture, if you will. besides, the last thing you wanted to do was let your friends down, and you began to agree with their shared philosophy: you can't become siblings.

it would be a bit weird to share the same house as them, to suddenly be forced into this new family. you didn't necessarily have great experiences with that in the past, and you found yourself wondering how long it'd be until mom's new fling fell apart. but what if it didn't? that small voice inside you whispered, and it kind of scared you.

you felt somewhat bad, but you swallowed down the guilt. part of you doubted tsumu's plan would even work in the first place, mostly due to the question which was-

would mom even care?

the dinner table is empty and quiet.

mom is in the kitchen fixing up the final dishes, and you're holding back a pout at the tightness of the dress clinging to your frame that she all but begged you to wear. she said it looked nice and you looked oh-so pretty in it, but it was tight and a bit unnecessary for one measly dinner.
