"Y/n can you go out and get some groceries for me today?" I didnt really like leaving the house, but just this once shouldn't hurt anything "yeah, what do you need?" I wheeled myself into the kitchen where my mamá was cooking "oh dios mio. You trying to feed the whole town with that pot of food?" She laughed and looked at me over her shoulder "haha very funny Y/n, but in all seriousness I need you to go to a few different places." I sighed "do I have too? People always treat me like I'm a little kid or something. One or two places I'm fine with, but more then that? No thanks." She sighed "I could always have your sister help you." I shot her a playful glare "no I'm fine. I just hate going out because of people." She chuckled "well you'll be fine. If anyone says anything or treats you like a kid just kindly ask them not to. Ok mijo?" I nodded "ok mamá."
Once she gave me a list of what she needed from each place I left making my way to the first store and getting funny looks any time I passed by someone. "I need...lets see." I looked at the list then right as I was about to go where I needed I felt my wheelchair start moving "you alright buddy? You seem lost. Where do you need to go?" I sighed "not lost, but thank you for attempting to help." That came off more passive aggressive then I hoped making them let go "sorry." I shrugged "its whatever." I made my way through the store grabbing what was on the list then went to the register "hello Young man. Where's your mommy today?" Are you kidding me? "I'm twenty not five." She actually looked at me this time "my bad. I thought you were someone else." She was at least telling the truth unlike the last person.
I made my first trip back home to drop everything off and mamá was still cooking "heres the first set of things you needed." I sat them on the counter "gracias mijo." She didn't even turn to look at me "de nada." Then back out I went to the next stop.
"Hello." I jumped and looked at the small boy next to me. It was Antonio. "Hey Toñito. You scared me." I gave him a fist bump "I didn't know you could leave the house." I chuckled "and I didn't know you had your gift finally." He smiled brightly "I got it before Casita fell and we had to rebuild it." I gave him a funny look "oh yeah Casita fell and we lost all our gifts and we had to rebuild Casita." I smiled "well I'm glad it all worked out." He nodded "me too." He looked at my list in my lap "can I help you get some of that?" I nodded "sure. You pick out what you want to grab and let meknow, so we don't get two of something alright?" He agreed then told me what he was going to grab so I could grab the other things.
Over time this became a normal thing for me to get things for my mother just because she got sick and Julietas cooking while it would work it only worked temporarily for her, so she felt better sending me out to do what she needed when my sister couldn't, even though it took a little longer then normal sometimes for me to do it.
"Hey mamá I'm gonna go hang out with Camilo and Antonio today is that ok?" She nodded "of course mijo. Can you guys grab me- never mind I'll have your sister do it, so you can enjoy time with your friends." So I was 20 hanging out with two 16 year olds, a 6 year old and a 23 year old. We normally had fun, but sometimes it got a little dangerous "and don't be doing anymore stunts or tricks with your wheelchair please. I already know Mirabel and Isabella will be there too." Caught red handed "ok mamá I won't." She only chuckled as I left knowing I lied to her.
"Hey guys." They all greeted me "what should we do today?" I shrugged "I don't know we've done alot." Camilo suddenly grinned with an idea "what if we find a way to hook Parce and a few other jaguars to your wheelchair and we had Antonio tell them where to go and we all climb on and- now that I say it out loud it sounds dumb." Actually it didn't "wait no your on to something cami-" thunder clapped above us and the sky went dark "dont be putting Y/n in any more danger." It was Pepa "his mother is already stressed enough." She wasn't stressed and it actually made her forget about her problems watching me do dumb stuff, but no one needed to know that. "I'll be ok Pepa." She gave me a look that slightly scared me "I know, but I dont need Antonio seeing any more. Which is why I'm leaving Luisa in charge of you five." Oh come on. She could literally stop us from doing anything fun unless...
