Melanie's POV

I was heading back home from George's, I took the bus then trotted down the street back home. As I walked, kicking rocks along the way, somebody bumped into me.

"Melanie!" It was Winnie

"Where the hell did you come from, the sky?!" I asked both surprised and in disbelief

"You'll never guess what happened" she said softly, blushing a light shade of pink

"I'm still in shock that you came out of your cave, what the hell possessed your soul?" I asked getting up and dusting off my pants

"You know that Richard guy, that lives up the street?" She asked

"Yeah I've known him forever, why?" I rubbed my head as we started to walk

"Well when I stepped outside, a bunch of those posh kids were walking by just checking out dingle I guess, they got me on the ground and Richard saved me, then called me pretty" She giggled

"Isn't that a happy ending" I said with a slight chuckle

"How long have you known him again?" She asked

"I met him when I was probably around four, I like everyone else on this street I've known him ever since I was little" I shrugged

"Must be nice, I only know our next door neighbours" Winnie sighed

"Because you never socialize, were I'm a little social butterfly I can name everyone on this street" I smiled proudly

"Again, must be nice" She hung her head and I looked behind me

"Come one, dads walking up the street, let's get home" I sighed as we trudged up the street.

Dad was amazing. He's real funny and a quick wit, I think I take after dad in every category, similar looks, similar personalities, similar gestures, he's a social butterfly. He works on the docks, which he always says it fun for him regardless of low pay, he enjoys it. Winnie takes after mum, though mum is more social then Winnie, were mum is a midwife, and she wants  Winnie to get into the same thing. But I doubt she'll get Winnie to do it any time soon.
