Melanie's POV

I walked up the stairs, I entered Rich's room and saw the two of them laying on the floor. I stood there with an obvious blank expression, and looked to Winnie who smiled nervously.

"I have the right mind to slap you silly" I said calmly, leaning on the door frame

"M-Melanie" Winnie stuttered

"Mum and dad think you've locked yourself in your room, I thought you were dead or kidnaped for bloody sake and you mean to tell me you're just right up the damn road? You had mum in tears, dad was distant all week, and I've been believing you've been dead in a ditch" I let out a heavy sigh and rubbed my face

"I'm sorry" Winnie said softly

"At least you lost something, look! You're not a virgin now!" I yelled throwing my hands in the air

"Mel" Richard started

"No, don't you go defending her, I'm going to tell mum and dad that you ran off, and this time the can't blame me for your mishaps, they can't tell me I did something wrong because this time you're taking the blame, not me!" I shouted rushing down the steps

"Melanie!" Winnie yelled chasing after me

I ran down the street and barged into my house, inside my father was about to leave for work. My mother looked at me surprised, were Cathy and William just stared.

"What's got you all wound up?" Dad asked placing a hand on my shoulder

"Winnie, she didn't lock herself in her room for the week, she ran away" I caught my breath and coughed

"What?" Dad questioned

"Look" I opened the front door and there stood Winnie, softly staring

"Winnie!" Mum exclaimed rushing out to her and hugging her tightly, dad did the same and I just looked at them dumbfounded

"You're not mad she ran away?" I asked

"Well you're the one who took her down town" Cathy smirked walking up behind me

"What?" Dad looked at me with slight irritation

"She followed me, then she ran off! Don't blame me I didn't tell her too" I rolled my eyes

"Melanie Juliana Coe, what have I told you about being responsible and not getting into thing you can't control, if you never took her down to the docs she would have never ran off!" Dad yelled

"Favouritism much, I've stopped caring about looking after her because she's older so why can't she do things for herself? I shouldn't have to look after her like she's not capable to even bloody walk!" I yelled back

"Go to your room!" Dad shouted

"Fuck off!" I screamed

"Excuse me?!" Dad roared

"I said, fuck off!" I bolted past everyone and ran hastily down the street, off into where I wanted to go.

I wanted to be alone now. Away from everyone, so I headed to where I thought I belong yet was to young to go, the art collage.
