The army of tens of thousands ran toward Helm's Deep that held the army of hundreds. But the Men, Elves and Asgardians they were going to stand. Archers on the wall were ready, Adaliah looked at her people and saw almost all of them had swords or daggers in their belt and bow in their hands. But what surprised her was the there was no trace of fear in their eyes, instead there was pride and stubbornness.

Adaliah turned her eyes back forward, waiting for the enemy to come to her. She heard Legolas say next to her,
"Faeg i-varv din na lanc a nu ranc. (Their armour is weak at the neck and under the arms.)"

Then silence took over on the wall, only sound in the air were the footsteps made by the Uruk hais and Orcs' hard iron boots. The Elves took their aim and waited for Aragorn's words. And soon they came  "Leithio i philinn! (Fire!)"
Hundreds of Elven arrows flew into the dark night, their whistling filled the air. Every arrowhead hit there target perfectly, the ground was already filled with death. Gimli asked, still trying to see over the border
"Anybody hit anything?"
Adaliah didn't answer. She heard Théoden King say behind her,
"Give them a volley."
The guard next to him then screamed,
"FIRE!"

Arrows were in the sky again, but some of those didn't hit their target. Still, hundreds lay dead on the ground. Adaliah had almost forgotten that Asgardians were there. But after a second or two, she heard Valkyrie yell over the noise,
"Attack!"
For the third time, whistles of arrows flying in the dark were heard. And, like the Elves, each of those found their target easily. Aragorn cried again, his sword was then in the air,
"Tangado a chadad! (Keep firing!)"

Gimli started to get restless. He growled,
"Come on! Send them to me!"
The mount of dead Orcs and Uruk hais grew. But soon, the first one fell on the wall. The troops of Saruman started also shooting arrows, the first one hit an Elf and he fell off the wall. But the rest kept on firing, killing tens. But when the Uruk hais had gotten close to the wall and they brought something. Adaliah couldn't make out what it was at first because of the rain and lack of light. But soon she didn't need to, Aragorn screamed,
"Pendraid! (Ladders!)"
Adaliah then saw them as well. They were huge, so huge that they reached the top of the wall. She heard Gimli almost cheering near her,
"Good, finally!"

Adaliah dodged an arrow by crouching quickly. Before she stood up again, she took her daggers out, there wasn't enough room for a sword. Many men were already armed with swords, she would have just taken more room than the narrow wall allowed. Plus, she was better and quicker fighting with her daggers.

When she stood up, she saw Legolas watching her as if asking 'These are what you are going to fight with?' But she knew better, her daggers were sharper than her sword, she could move faster with them and she knew that Saruman couldn't have had time to prepare those beasts so she didn't need to block the weapon swings, she could have dodged them instead. So she just smiled lightly and nodded. The wall underneath Adaliah shook lightly when the first ladder collided with the wall. It had metal hooks on the top so it wouldn't fall down.
Another ladder followed that one, then another and so on. Soon, Uruk hais started to appear. Adaliah kept repeating in her mind what Legolas had said to the archers: 'Their armour is weak at the neck and under the arms.'

A ladder came up on the left from Gimli and another appeared from the right to Adaliah. She lifted her blades and breathed in and out calmly, deeply.
An Uruk hai came running towards her, with a giant axe in its hands. It swung the blade towards her head, but Adaliah ducked and stood up closer to it. She then easily sliced the neck of the Uruk hai. But more came.

As one fell, ten came instead of the dead. Adaliah sliced the necks, while fighting she even found new weak spots. And one of them almost made her laugh, she stabbed an Orc's groin area by mistake. But it fell dead at the spot. She heard Gimli yell, trying to tease Adaliah and Legolas,
"Legolas, Adaliah, two already!"
But the Elf screamed back,
"I am in seventeen!"
Adaliah put each of her daggers on a different Orc's throat and pulled. A small splatter of blood fell on her cheek as she screamed at the Dwarf and Elf  "Sorry, boys! I am on eighteen!"
But Legolas shot another and pulled out the arrow, stabbing it into an Uruk hai's eye. He tried to show off,
"Nineteen!"
Gimli growled back as he swung his axe into one's stomach
"Argh! I will have no pointy-ear outscoring me!"

Adaliah felt the wall under her legs shake again and she knew that more ladders were up. But as she fought, she realised that those creatures weren't like the ones that got Pippin and Merry. Those were smaller and weaker, lucky to her. But each and every one of them had had a white handprint on their face. That was the mark of Saruman...
