Two pairs of eyes stared at me while I eat my spaghetti. By the fourth mouthful, after I chewed and swallowed, I dropped the fork on my plate and shot a frustrated glance at Tyler and Cynthia.

“Why are you two looking at me like that?” I asked, though I knew why they were staring at me. “I’m not a science experiment. Plus, I’m eating!”

Cynthia, as expected, was the first to talk.

“Is he a good kisser?”

I almost choked on my water as I blushed a deep, bright red. She didn’t really beat around the bush now, did she?

“Whoa,” Tyler said, a look of horror gracing his features. He looked at Cynthia, then at me. He pointed his finger at my face. “Don’t you dare answer that question.”

Classic, dramatic Tyler Simmons.

“I wasn’t planning to,” I muttered. “And Tyler, thank you, by the way.”

Tyler’s face immediately transformed in to a proud look. He smiled at me and said, “You’re welcome. Did you guys have fun?”

Cynthia’s nose was wrinkled, but when she heard my conversation with Tyler, her eyes widened and interest gleamed in them. “What are you not telling me?”

I sighed. “Colby surprised me with dinner, that’s all.”

“Oh no,” Cynthia said in a no nonsense tone. “That is not all. You’re glowing all over that you might be mistaken for a light bulb and moths will come flocking.”

Tyler chuckled, and he agreed with Cynthia.

I rolled my eyes. “Colby surprised me with dinner, with flowers and candles under a tent, at my backyard.”

As Cynthia’s eyes shimmered and she swooned with delight, I shoved a forkful of spaghetti in my mouth and chewed very slowly, so if she asked any more questions I would not be able to answer right away. Then I remembered how cute she looked with Kyle, and I smiled a close-lipped smile as I chewed.

Cynthia continued to ramble on how amazingly sweet Colby was, when he suddenly appeared with a tray of food in his hands, and he plopped down on the seat beside me. I smiled at Colby, feeling extremely happy to see him, and he returned my smile, then leaned forward and quickly pecked my lips. I blushed, mainly because he kissed me inside the cafeteria, and then I also felt slightly exasperated because the two had to see it up close.

“Aw,” Cynthia sighed. “Now will you tell me if he’s a good kisser or not?”

I ignored her, and Colby’s cheeks turned a pinkish tinge. He was smirking, though, as he turned to me and said, “I’d like to know the answer to that one.”

Despite my still racing heart, I raised an eyebrow at him. He was a fantastic kisser and he knew it. But I wasn’t about to feed his ego. That prat.

Tyler wrinkled his nose. “Man, don’t kiss Kayla in front of me. It’s like you’re kissing my sister or something.”

Colby raised an eyebrow then chuckled. “That wasn’t even a real kiss. You want to see how we really kiss?” He started to scoot closer to me and my eyes widened. My heart started racing—if it was because of panic that he would really kiss me in the cafeteria, or because of anticipation that he would really kiss me in the cafeteria, I couldn’t quite figure out.

The squeal that Cynthia let out was enough to bring me back to my senses, and I put a hand on Colby’s chest and pushed him back gently.

“Don’t you dare, Mr. Mariano,” I warned, narrowing my eyes at him.
