(Smiley: Sorry for delays, again. This last week was pretty hectic and some stuff happened at school (Teenagers dealing with drugs, some uncomfortable, what I assume is, racism happened to me, but I'm not really trying to jump into conclusions yet, and some girl decided it was a good day to bring a gun to school). But one of my friends nagged me about taking a break (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) and another helped me by letting me vent (YOU ALSO KNOW WHO YOU ARE), but I appreciate their concern and help for my physical and mental health. Infinite redemption arc with the help of the reader. Takes place after Sonic Forces. Reader and Resistance are cleaning up after the whole war and reader ends up finding an unconscious Infinite while cleaning up the woods. He doesn't have the ruby anymore and Reader brings him home to interrogate him. Infinite slowly gains trust in them. It's a slowburn, because I want to see how Infinite grows more attached to the Reader. Eventually, a romance blooms. Reverse comfort because Infinite is touch-starved.

Summary: You find a certain jackal out in the woods while patrolling. (Also, the song 'Live and Learn' from SA2 fits this whole arc. Idk if that's a good thing? lol)

The orange rays of the sun shone through small cracks between the trees. Leaves crunched under your feet as you walked through the barren forest. You peered at your surroundings, looking for any disasters to clean up.

You couldn't believe it was already fall. Not so long ago, spring had loomed over you, just as Dr. Eggman's army had been. The disasters left behind had to be cleaned up by someone, and the Resistance assigned you with the job.

You couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness. Although you had managed to get out of it alive and well, you felt like you could've done more to help the masked villain himself, Infinite. Something about him made you feel guilty.

Maybe is was the fact that he seemed so inclined to destroy Sonic and Shadow. Something behind his words always struck a chord in you, as if they had a real meaning. It wasn't just show and you had wanted to help him get rid of those emotions, help him rebound back to his feet, as you assumed he had been before.

But by the time the war was finished, it was too late. Infinite disappeared without a trace, and Eggman was no help in telling The Resistance what had happened.

Your eyebrows furrowed as you walked through the woods, peering around to look for any signs of damage.

So far, so good.

You wandered for a while longer before sighing. Maybe it was best for you to leave and check up tomorrow. It was starting to get late.

As you turned around to leave, the wind picked up. The distinct smell of smoke wafted up to your nose. You paused before turning back around.

Maybe you could check on this and then leave. Plus, smoke meant fire and fire doesn't tend to do great in forests.

You followed the smell and coughed as it grew stronger and stronger.

You pushed through some bushes before coming to a stop at the sight of a clearing filled smoke. You squinted as you scanned everywhere for a sign of fire, but no such luck.

You waved some of the smoke away as you walked closer to what you presumed was a crater.

You hummed.
