Chapter 65:

---

After he has made a proper name for himself in Tsaringrad, being noted in the papers that he's better than Ursus, and tying up loose ends with his subordinates and soldiers, Blitz may not be as confident as he wishes, but hanging out with Lie Ren sparked nostalgia in him that he couldn't hold on to any longer.

On the first day of the fourth month, Blitz has since been hiding from the public eye, and despite his appearance standing out the most, people have not seen him for days. Not even his soldiers or closest subordinates. However, they were some eyewitnesses that said they saw him in peculiar circumstances like entering the Tsaringrad Theatre, visiting a hairdressing shop, buying a slightly dinked and scrap-yard-made Ursus Battle Rifle from Mr. Zhabid's weapons manufacturing department, heading to the post office with parcels and letters, basically mundane routines an average person would do daily.

It has since been four days ever since the Daily Uproar reported about his public absence, which is not really a cause for alarm, but shutting himself in after becoming a household name is pretty unusual.

{In other news, Varus has also woken up from another coma after doing a demonstration of his Arts to try and look cool to Blitz. Used to being unconscious for a long time, Varus treats this as a mere inconvenience than a health risk. His hired physician, Dr. Phyllis, prescribed him the rest cure after he woke up; he's none too happy to be barred from exercising and honing his Arts, but at least he has a lot of off-hours now. Perhaps Blitz would like to continue where they left off?}

Varus thinks of revealing that he's awake again and that his schedule is more than free due to his rest cure, but when he made it to the door of his study, he finds Lie Ren there, waiting outside his office door, drinking a weird looking pink liquid from a glass bottle. She acknowledges his presence with a nod and a half-assed salute.

---

Lie: "Blitz is in there for days, and rarely comes out. Only leaves his study just to eat and stare wistfully out the windows."

Varus: "Oh no... Is he okay?"

Lie: "I don't know. Since he trusts you the most, better check on him. I'm just here to keep an eye on him, make sure he doesn't get lost again."

*Varus breathes a deep sigh, then bows his head briefly in acceptance at Lie. When he reaches for the knob and discovers it locked, he's pleased to remember that he made a duplicate key for Blitz's study just for situations like this.*

Varus: "Blitz, I'm coming in."

*He squeezes his way inside, shutting the door before Lie Ren could peek. Varus halts in his step, aghast when he finds Blitz, wearing his old squire garments that he hated, rifling through a colossal mess of his study like a castaway. Varus cannot discern the floor or the furniture beneath the heaps of letters, parcels, clothes, boxes of what appear to be provisions for a long hike, ammunition, and the like. There's also what appears to be a weird-looking rifle on his desk. It looks different than the other rifles they're familiar with. It has a curved magazine, wooden stock and grip, a small barrel with no bore on top of the longer barrel, completed with a tall iron sight. This gun looks expensive despite the rickety texture.*
