"I hate you!" Alex's dad shouted as he slammed Alex's door closed. He had enough courage to come out to them, but it wasn't worth it. Alex starts to pace.

"He doesn't mean that, right? Yeah, yeah! He's just had a bad day," Alex told himself. And everyday Alex convinces himself to keep giving his dad a second chance. When he called him a slur or hit him or just plain yelling at him, he always gave him a second change, but not for long.

"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Mercer," Reggie said as he walked into Alex's house. But Alex's dad didn't hear him. He was too busy yelling at Alex.

"You are no son of mine!" he yelled

When he finally stopped, Alex ran to his bedroom. Reggie pretended he didn't just hear his best friend's dad just yell at him for not reason. Reggie waved and Alex's parents waved back. He calmly walked to Alex's room. when He opened the door, he saw Alex pacing.

"Lex?" Reggie said, startling Alex.

"Oh, hi Reg," Alex said as he kept pacing.

"I heard everything," Reggie said. Alex stops pacing and faces Reggie.

"I'm sure he doesn't mean it- He can't be serious- Who am I kidding I should just give him another chance," Alex said, mainly to himself.

"Alex, the devil doesn't bargain," Reggie said, "He can only break your heart again,". Alex flings himself onto Reggie's open arms and hugs him tightly. Reggie hugs back just as tightly.

"He isn't worth it, darling. He's never gonna change," Reggie said as he moves them to Alex's bed. They lay there for what felt like hours was probably 10 minutes. Suddenly, Reggie gets up and grabs Alex's back pack and starts stuffing it with clothes.

"What are you doing?" Alex asked.

"We are going to the studio, and never coming back here. They don't deserve you, Lex," Reggie said. Alex smiled. Reggie's right. He doesn't need his parents to tell him he's good enough or that they love him.

He was already good enough and loved.
