Chapter 30: Come Fly With Me (Part 3)

Jay, Phil, and Ryan are seen standing in an open field looking at the plane flying in the air.
Phil - "Now can I try it."
Jay - "No."
Phil - "You know I have always wanted to get one of those. You know if things had gone a little differently in my life I think I would have been a pilot."
Ryan - "It's not that easy to be a pilot you have to go through intense tests. After all, it is a matter of life and death."
Phil - "Who says I wouldn't have passed those tests."
Ryan - "Press x for doubt."
Jay - "What?"
Ryan - "Nothing."
Phil - "Hey what happens if you turn off the remote and turn it back on real fast."
Ryan - "The plane crashes obviously..."
Jay - "Yeah you would have been a great pilot."
Ryan barely managed to control his laughter.
Phil tried to change the topic and asked, "So can you do a loopty loop."
Jay - "If I wanted to."
Phil - "No way can I try it."
Jay - "No."
Phil whispered, "Come on you are making me look bad in front of the kid."
Jay - "I will tell you what there is another trick called treading the needle I use to do it with Claire and Mitchel when they were kids. Do you guys wanna try it."
Ryan - "How does it go?"
Jay - "Both of you grab one of those hoops over there. Go to the far-far end of the field and stand there. While I fly the plane through it."
Phil - "Uhm that sounds awesome and then I get a chance to fly it?."
Jay - "No."
Ryan interrupted - "I think one of us should do it. So that it's easier for you."
Ryan might have said this on the outside but on the inside, he said, "I have already taken a shot for Dylan. I ain't getting my nose broken for Phil."
Phil - "Come on Ryan it will be fun and I am sure Jay can drive the plane to perfection."
Jay - "For once I agree with Phil. Come on you two get moving. Chop chop."
Phil - "Alright let's get going."
Ryan gulped before replying, "Fine."
Phil then grabbed the big loop while Ryan got the smaller loop. They both then started running on the field with the loop.
Phil - "How is this?"
Jay - "Let Ryan stand there you go further down, I will do both of you in a line."
Phil - "Alright I will go further down."
Jay - "You can't go too far."
Phil - "I get it. I get it."
"How is this?"
Jay - "Good now both of you stand still. Don't move."
Ryan stood in position and prayed, "Whoever is up there please I beg you. Don't let Jay crash the plane in my face and break my nose."
Phil - "Okay let's do it. Whoo-hoo, come on Ryan aren't you excited."
Ryan let out a painful, "Whoo-hoo"
Jay then started flying the plane in the air while Ryan awaited his demise. The plane soon reached Ryan's hoop and easily passed through it.
Leaving Ryan to thank god for his grace.
Phil - "Oh here it comes."
Boom
The plane comes and directly smashes into Phil's face. He then falls to his knees before falling face-first onto the ground.
Ryan lets out a scream, "Phil."
He then rushes towards Phil's body lying flat on the ground. While Jay walks slowly towards Phil. Ryan helps turns Phil's body to the other side to avoid further damaging his nose.
Phil - "You drove a plane into my face."
Jay - "Must have moved I told you to stay still."
Phil - "I didn't move."
Jay - "Try not to talk. I wanna make sure nothing's broken."
Seeing Jay continue to fiddle with his plane even though an injured man lay on the floor Ryan had enough and shouted, "Uncle Jay he is bleeding for god's sake. We need to get him back home."
"You can fix your plane some other time."
Jay - "Fine pick him up."
Ryan then helps pick up Phil and carries him while Jay carries his dear plane to the car.
Back at the Dunphy household Claire and Manny are seen bonding together.
Claire - "Alex and I can't just disagree. I mean she has to turn everything into a fight."
Manny - "Hmm a strong independent woman. Sounds like somebody else I know."
Claire - "I was never hostile, this whole thing with the dress. Never had this problem with Haley."
Manny - "Maybe Alex doesn't want to compete with her big sister. Maybe she is trying to create her own identity. Put her on a dress and she disappears."
Claire - "For one afternoon."
Manny - "I wouldn't give up being myself for even one second."
Claire sighs and replied, "Sometimes it's hard to remember you are like 10 years old."
Manny - "And three quarters."
The landline then suddenly rings.
Claire - "Hello."
Ryan - "Hi it's Ryan. Your father crashed a plane into Phil's face and broke his nose."
Claire - "My dad did what?"
Jay - "I told you he wasn't standing still."
Phil - "I was."
Ryan - "Yeah so we are bringing him back home so please be ready with a first aid kit."
Claire - "Okay got it. I will get it ready right away."
We then get back to Gloria and Alex at the diner.
Gloria - "I have a small flower on my ankle and a tiny little butterfly on my...thigh."
Alex - "How high up."
Gloria - "Very high."
Alex - "Did you do it to look sexy? No did you do it for a guy? Does grandpa like it?"
Gloria - "No, no and yes."
Alex - "That's gross."
"Let's go back to your piercing."
Gloria - "No no no I have answered enough of your question now you answer another one of mine."
Alex - "What is it?"
Gloria - "Why don't wanna wear a dress."
Alex - "Because I don't wanna look like Haley and her stupid friends."
Gloria - "I wear dresses and I don't look like Haley."
Alex - "You are Haley just forty years older."
Gloria - "Ten."
Alex - "Twenty."
Gloria - "Deal."
"Alex, why are you fighting me on this?"
Alex - "I am not pretty like Haley and you."
Gloria - "That's ridiculous you are beautiful."
Alex - "I am not and that's okay, I am the smart one."
Gloria - "Do you think Ryan dates you cause you are smart?"
Alex - "Why else?"
Gloria - "Look the only reason a boy like him dates someone is cause he thinks she is beautiful."
Alex - "I guess that makes sense."
Gloria - "See now think of this. What happens if someone like Haley comes along and steals Ryan away from you? How would you feel?."
Alex - "Sad and disappointed."
Gloria - "If you want to avoid that day from coming you are going to need to look beautiful to make him not even have second thoughts about someone else."
"Do you understand?"
Alex - "I get it. So have you ever kissed another girl?"
Gloria - "That is no way to talk to your grandmother."
