Chapter 63: A Phone Call

Gloria is seen sitting on the sofa while Phil is standing and putting on a bandage on the left side of Gloria's forehead.

Gloria - "Ah."

Phil - "Okay, we are finished."

Gloria - "Thank you, Phil. I don't know why this happened?"

Phil - "It's probably due to you not having enough water today."

Haley, standing behind Phil, spoke, "Yes, I think heatstroke had something to do with that."

Phil - "Speaking of which, Haley, why don't you be a sweetheart and go grab some water for her."

Haley - "Okay."

Haley then headed towards the kitchen to fill up a glass of water.

As she filled up her steel glass with water, the kitchen landline suddenly started ringing.

Haley - "I will get it."

Haley then headed towards the landline and picked it up.

Haley - "Hi, who is this?"

Claire - "It's me, Claire."

Haley said, "Mom? Where are you? Why haven't you come back home yet?" while walking towards Gloria with a water glass.

Claire - "Well, things got complicated here."

Haley - "I see, so getting caught once wasn't enough?"

Claire - "What are you talking about, Haley?"

Haley said, "Oh, please don't try to act like you don't know what I am talking about." while finally handing the glass of water to Gloria.

She then stood nearby and continued talking with Claire.

Haley - "Ryan predicted you spot on. I still can't believe you actually followed them."

Claire - "How do you know about that? Did Ryan call you?"

Haley - "No, I have known from the very start. Who do you think informed him that you left home in the first place?"

"I can't believe you, mom. If you are like this with Ryan, I don't even know what you will be like in front of Dylan."

Phil, who was extremely confused on the sideline, couldn't help but ask, "What are you talking about?"

Haley - "Nothing much, just how mom followed behind Ryan and Alex on their picnic."

Phil - "What?"

Gloria, who was still slightly concussed, remained quiet.

Claire - "Haley, give the phone to your dad. There has been an emergency here, and I need him to get here asap."

Haley - "Emergency?"

Claire - "Yes."

Haley - "How do I know you aren't lying and trying to cover your tracks?"

Claire said, "Haley," then sighed before saying, "If I am lying, you can go to that movie you wanted to go with Dylan and his friends."

Haley - "Oh my, something really happened."

Haley then removed the landline from her ear, passed it to Phil, and said, "Mom said there is an emergency. She wants to talk with you."

Phil then grabbed the phone and talked with Claire while pacing back and forth in panic.

After a few rounds of back and forth, Phil finally ended the call with Claire.

Gloria, who had normalized, saw that Phil had finally finished the call with Claire and spoke, "Ayy Phil, What's wrong? You look like a deer in head lice."

Haley - "Yes, dad, what going on?"

Phil - "Claire said Alex encountered some kind of hostage situation during her picnic. She is now injured.."

Haley and Gloria simultaneously go, "What!"

Phil - "Yeah. The place is now surrounded by the cops. She doesn't know when they will be home."

Gloria searched her pants pockets in haste and pulled out her car keys.

Gloria - "We're going there! Right now!"

Phil - "But who will take care of the kids?"

Haley - "What do you mean? I am going with you!!"

Phil - "No, it's too dangerous."

Haley - "No, that's unfair. I want to go as well. I am also worried about Alex and Ryan's safety."

When Haley mentioned Ryan's name, the author watching them on his crystal ball couldn't help but comment, "Hmm, worried about Ryan, huh sounds very sus."

Phil - "Even if I take you, what about Luke?"

Gloria pulled out her phone and said, "I can call Mitch and Cam. they can take care of Luke while we are gone."

Haley - "See, dad Gloria doesn't have a problem with me coming along."

Gloria - "Yeah, Phil, let her come."

Phil - "Okay fine, but we need to leave right away. I will go get Luke while you guys wear your sandals."

After a few minutes, Phil then headed downstairs with him was a fully dressed up Luke.

Phil, Gloria, Luke, and Haley then headed outside towards the car after a quick call.

Gloria waved her car keys in the air and asked, "So, who is driving?"

Phil wisely said, "I am driving."

Gloria - "Okay."

Phil then got into the driver's seat, Gloria in the front passenger seat, while Haley sat with a sleepy Luke in the back.

Phil - "Okay, now that everyone's settled, let's go to the park after dropping off Luke."

Gloria stopped Phil as she thought of something and said, "We will go there, but before that, we need to also stop by my house to pick up my machete."

"Y-your what?" Phil's expression turned blank, and he stared directly into the camera.

The camera then cuts and switches to Mitch and Cam's residence, where we hear a loud yell.

"She is in a WHAT!?"

After that, we see Cameron standing in the kitchen, talking on his mobile.

Cam - "Yeah, we will take care of Luke. Do you need any more help?"

Cam then continued to talk with Phil on the phone while Mitchell entered the kitchen holding Lily as he heard a loud shout.

Mitchell - "What's wrong? I heard a shout."

"Alex is in a hostage situation." Cam pulled away from the phone and said in a whisper.

"She is in a WHAT!?" Mitchell was flabbergasted. He wanted to yell, but Cam shushed him as Lily was still asleep.

Cam - "Gloria is asking if you have any cop friends?"

Mitchell - "Cam, why are you so CALM...(hushed) We need to do something!"

Cam - ""It's fine. Alex wasn't the one being kidnapped." Cam finally explains it thoroughly after Mitchell becomes agitated.

Mitchell - "I see."

Cam continued, "They are bringing Luke. Overall all we can do to help now is wait here."

Mitchell - "What about Ryan? Is he okay? I think we should call dad and let him know."

Cam - "Yeah, let's do that."
