Y/n pov

"Come out you coward" i scream out into the empty hallway, the lights are flickering and another shake comes through. "Or are you afraid to get your ass handed to you by a woman?"

"I'm not afraid of a monster like you" i hear his voice behind me. Together with the click of a gun, the safety is off.

"Oh, but you should" he fires and it goes right through my chest. I'm now standing so close to him that he backs into the wall behind him. "And you are going to pay for everything you've done"

"I think you're gonna have to be more specific, i've done a lot of things in my life" i can hear how his voice breaks even though he's still ignoring the fact that he's afraid, that his heart is racing in it. He is scared... terrified.

"Why specific... you deserve to burn for everything"

"So do you, you're no more innocent than me. I would say that you're even worse"

"Oh i know and i'm going to burn, when it's my turn. But right now i'm not the one who attacked a monster's girlfriend" his eyes change once more and it's more than fear this time, it's a plan that's forming. That's going to fail. Because he can't take anything more from me now. I accepted who i was long ago, there is nothing he can do that could spare him now.

"So that's what this is about, the chip that drained her energy and dropped her a death's doorstep. Yeah, that was meant for you" the lust in my eyes flicker to his words. "I was aiming for you, she just happened to be in the way" the mentioning of Natasha brings me back, but i now know that i don't need to turn it off to do this.

"You should have just kept your mouth closed and maybe i could have just killed you... but now, i'm going to rip your soul out" i drill my fangs into his neck as i also gripp that cloth again, pulling until i reach a strand and as i no long taste the metallic taste but just nothing. There is no guilt in the kill this time, he deserves it. I want to enjoy it but hunger beats the best of me. I look him in the eyes for his last breath as only one thread is keeping him alive.

"I still win" he says and pierce a wooden stake through me as i cut the last thread. But he missed, only by an inch, an inch and i would be dead for real. But now he's dead and i fall to the floor beside him, feeling the pain of the splinters and the stake. The pain is nothing i've ever felt before. It's almost... human, similar to the pain when i died in 1945. So maybe this is it, even though he didn't pierce my heart, this could be it. As the pain is the only thing existing, a tear falls down my cheek as i know i might never be able to give Natasha that ring. Even though her not turning would be for the best, i'll never get to marry her either.

Natasha pov

"Stark, Nat, we need to get out now" someone says over the comms, but i can't focus. I need to find her. She had just simply fallen through the ground, leaving two wooden bullets on the floor. I hear the small thud of something falling, then another. And there, in the end of the hallway... she lies, y/n and... Christopher. He's dead and she is bleeding like hell. It should have healed more by now but as i come close i see the stake sitting in her chest. I take her in my arms and hold her close, hearing her strained breathing. Her hand tries to touch the stake, to try and pull it out but she's too weak. So i put my hand around it, pulling it out without a second thought. Y/n lets out a grunt of pain as a smile comes upon her lips and her eyes look at me.

"Natalia" she breathes.

"It's okay, everything is going to be okay. We're gonna get out here" i say, brushing her hair out of her face. But she doesn't believe me.

"I'm... sorry" she says, coughing up some blood and i don't understand. She should be healing, why isn't she healing. "I... i love you"

"Don't say that, y/n, don't say that. We're going to get you out okay. Then we're going to live the rest of our lives together, okay" but the smile on her lips stays as she lifts her hand to cup my cheek, letting me lean into the warmth even though i know that warmth is blood.

"I'm sorry, i should have... should have told you... you where i was... was going" tears continue to fall down her eyes. And i can't believe that i'm about to do this. I pick up the sharp stake and slice my wrist. Her eyes flashes in horror before i bring my wrist to her mouth where her vampire side takes over. That even though she's fed, and emptied, at least ten men. It's different when it's mine, and it'll give her power to survive the way back to the tower.

"You're going to be okay, we're gonna fix this" i bring her up to hold her close again. "I'm not letting him take you away, don't let him win y/n"
