~ (y/n)'s P.O.V. ~

I jolted awake, sucking in a quick breath. Flashes of the lab and a blonde haired man danced in my brain as the nightmare slipped from my mind. I turned slow eyes around the room, feeling the chill of the air travel up my arms as I turned over. Most of the blanket was bunched around Mike, and I huffed, sleepily pulling it back around me.  Mike stirred at the movement, his face scrunching for a moment, then he fell still again. My eyes jumped to the alarm clock at the bedside, seeing I would only get a couple of more hours of this peace before we were going to be getting up again. I sighed, looking back to Mike again.

I trailed my eyes over his features, feeling the way sleep was slowly coming to me again. Yet I still reached out, gently tracing a finger over his cheekbone. Mike hummed, his eyes fluttering open before he was pushing closer to me. I huffed a breath through my nose letting him nuzzle against me before resting his chin on my head. I let my eyes close again, letting the warmth and sleep wash away the last remnants of the nightmare. Not even the slight sting in my scar could keep me awake.

"Don't forget to give Will his birthday gift when you get there. And also remember to teach El how to tie the bracelet so it doesn't come off her wrist. She said she tried with the last one I sent but it only broke." Mike nodded at my reminder, a small smile playing on his lips.

"I know, I know. You've only told me three times this morning, love." Mike said, his voice gentle "I think Steve might be rubbing off on you." I scoffed, knocking his shoulder as we stopped walking near one of the airport gates. He was meant to be boarding soon.

"He is not. I just feel bad I can't be there when you first get there. I wish I could be." My voice fell to a murmur as a group of people brushed past us. Mike brushed his hands over my hair, nodding.

"I know you do. But remember, we're hoping you'll be able to in a few days." I nodded, letting Mike pull me into a hug. When he pulled from it, Mike dipped down, pressing his lips to mine in a brief kiss. I felt my smile grow as he pulled away, and his own smile graced over his lips. "There's the smile I know and love." Mike whispered, leaning down as he kissed my forehead this time. Yet, his expression dropped when he pulled away the second time. In turn, I felt mine do the same.

"Are-are you using your..." Mike trailed off, tilting his head. It took a moment for what he was implying to click in my head as I felt something drip down from my nose.  My hand flew to my nose, pinching the end of it. I shook my head, and Mike's eyebrows only furrowed as he dug a hand in his pocket, pulling out a small thing of portable tissue. He ripped the package open, dropping some of the tissues as he did so, before pressing a wad into my free hand. I switched out my hand for the tissues, pressing them to my nose and pinching it.

"If you're not, then why is your nose bleeding?" Mike asked. I shrugged, wondering the same thing myself. From across the way, the calls for boarding his flight began.

"You have to go soon." Mike glanced to where the line began to form.

"I know. I want to make sure you're okay first. You don't usually get random nose bleeds."

"I'm not doing anything, though. I promise. I don't know why I am having one. Unless it's like the arm scar thing that happened last night?" Even though I was the one to suggest it, it sounded like a question slipping out of my mouth. Mike's frown only deepened.

"I really want you to take time to relax, okay? I get school stress on top of stress from everything else, but school isn't worth risking your health over. You're too important for that." I paused at his tone, realizing how serious Mike was about this. I nodded.
