IT WAS THE DAY. The day Avery Brown had been waiting for since forever. The day Finney Blake had been dreading since forever. It was the day the two teens would finally go back to school after what had happened to them.

While Avery couldn't be more excited and as she did everything in her morning routine with a smile, Finney couldn't be more anxious about it, overthinking everything. He had created many different scenarios about how school would go, but he wasn't sure if any of them would be accurate or not. The only thing preventing him from staying at home and never showing his face to his school again was Avery. He knew the girl was definetly going to school and the thought of letting her go alone made him feel unloyal, and horrible, and he knew that if Avery was beside him he would be able to go through his day better than ever. But he hoped the girl would stay by his side, hoped that she wouldn't leave him all alone, because after all, Avery and Finn were never really friends at school so, what if it goes back to being the way it was?

Avery hugged her parents goodbye and then left her house. As she started walking, she couldn't help but feel nervous about going to school. She had been excited all along just by thinking about it, but now that it was actually happening, that it wasn't her imagination or thoughts, things started to become real, and there were many possibilites on what could happen. She felt her feet move slower as she hesitated to continue walking to school. But she knew she couldn't feel this way, so she tried pushing her thoughts out of her head and continued her walk to school, thinking only on the positive things. Nothing bad was gonna happen, right?

...

Finney walked by his sister's side on his entire walk to school. His sister talked and talked the entire journey, but Finney didn't listen to a single word. He was too busy imagining what school was going to be like and what would happen to him while he was there. He kept over thinking about every little thing.

"And then, I was like- Finney, are you even listening to me?" The girl stopped her ranting, noticing how her brother would just murmur sounds every now and then.

"Mhm." Finney replied, still locked in his thoughts.

"Finney!"

"What?!" The boy shouted, spooked at his sister's outerburts and finally getting snapped off his thoughts.

"What's going on with you? You're like lost in another universe or something." Gwen asked rolling her eyes and muttering the last part but still loud enough for Finney to hear.

"What? It's nothing."

"Finney." His sister pressured.

"Gwen, it's nothing!" The boy laughed, avoiding his sister's gaze. Gwen hesitated and stared at her brother, trying to read his face and figure out what was actually going on.

"Hey, everything's gonna be fine, you know." She told him, knowing what was bothering him.

"Yeah. Yeah, I know. Gwen, I'm fine." Gwen knew he wasn't really telling the truth but she knew he wouldn't budge anymore. So, she soon gave up, knowing her brother was too stuborn and was never going to let it go and tell her what was actually happening to him and all those thoughts running through his head.

"Okay. So, what's going on with you and Avery, huh?" Gwen asked changing the subject and nudging Finney's side with her shoulder. Finney's face instantly became pink with embarrasment and he couldn't help but smile.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He spoke trying to hide his smile.

"Oh, yeah, okay. You literally rushed to the hospital whenever you had the chance and whenever I visited Avery with you it was clear there was a spark between you two."
