"i just hate going back there...she always treats me like garbage or acts like i dont exist" Kai frowned putting his head on the desk

"i know it may seem hard but think about how happy your sisters will be to see you, just try to ignore your mom and spend time with the rest of your family" his teacher replied

"but i know she's gonna introduce me to my extended family as my deadname and it's embarrassing" he pouted behind his mask

"hueningkai i dont know what you expect me to tell you...i know ive done alot of help for you this past year mentally but i cant give advice on something i have no clue about...if things go really wrong you have my sons phone number have him pick you up okay?"

"yes maam" Kai said quietly "im sorry for bothering you so much"

"no no you dont bother me i just dont know what im supposed to do yknow? im trying to help but i cant change your mom"

"i know miss... i just wish my dad lived here it would be so much easier to be with him" he sighed

"i know its hard huening-ssi just try your hardest to be strong" she said comfortingly "is your sister here to get you?"

"shes on her way, why do you have to leave?" he asked

"yea my daughter has a doctors appointment in an hour i need to pick her up from school"

"okay ill go wait outside then" kai smiled "bye miss have a good break" he said grabbing his bag and leaving the classroom

"have a good break hueningkai" she called after him

Within the next hour Kai was struggling to breathe in his sisters car as they got closer and closer to their childhood home

"kai count to three with me and take deep breaths...good job now tell me three things you can see" lea said comfortingly

"u-uhm th-the dash the r-road a-and m-my s-seatb-belt" he said shakily

"good job now just breathe slowly" she said putting her hands back on the steering wheel and slowly continuing to drive

Kai eventually calmed down and layed his head against the window as he looked outside

Once they arrived Kai grabbed his and Leas bags and followed Lea inside

"hi hiyyih" Kai mumbled to his little sister as she walked past him to the kitchen

"oh i forgot you were coming" Bahiyyih said holding back a laugh "Leas room is upstairs follow me" she said walking upstairs

"this is her room...uhm i dont know if your room is ready" she looked down, knowing that their mom had already prepared his room "just set your stuff down in here while i get it ready" she said walking to Kais old room

Kai sat on Leas bed and scrolled on his phone for awhile while he waited for Bahiyyih

Bahiyyih was in Kais room taking everything their mom did down and removing the blankets from his bed replacing everything with Kais old decorations that their mother had put in the closet and putting plain black blankets on the bed
