Lock 'Em Up and
Throw Away the Key

"So what you're saying is, Mr. H and his cop brother covered for you?"

You nodded in response to Kaitlyn's question. Everyone was silent after you told the story, Ryan leaving his own input every now and then. A small snort made all of you whip your heads to the source of the sound.

Dylan immediately slapped a hand over his mouth, hiding his smirk. Kaitlyn smacked his shoulder before scolding him.

"What is so funny about that? That's traumatizing!" She asked in disbelief.

"I know but like, imagine a small, little eight year old (n/n) calling someone a selfish whore with a stick up their ass..."

It set in everyone's minds for a moment before you let out a small snort. Followed shortly by Abi, then Emma, and soon everyone was softly laughing at your past actions.

This felt like the summer before everything went to shit.

Everyone laughing only because someone mentioned something even a little bit funny. Your smile slowly faded recalling the past summer. You regret taking all the nice memories and experiences for granted, wanting so badly to restart the summer. Minus the killer werewolves and blood.

The thought seemed to occur in everyone's minds. All of you now silent and reminiscing of what could've been or what should've been.

"Shit..." Emma began from beside you, "We learned new stuff about each other which was nice, but at what cost?"

You and Jacob made eye contact at her words, speaking in whatever sibling telepathy you had.

'Tell them.'

'No.'

'Do it.'

Jacob let out a sigh before clearing his throat, grabbing the attention of everyone else. He fiddled with his fingers, lowering his gaze to his feet.

"It's my fault we all went through this. I tore the fuel line. I-I..." He stuttered, "I wanted us all to have one extra night together for memories."

"Cut the bullshit." You hissed.

Jacob subtly flinched at your words yet didn't continue. Everyone was processing Jacob's confession but no one seemed to be angry at his words, only confused by yours.

"You tore the fuel line so you could revive the ashes of whatever you and Emma had." You corrected with a small glare.

Kaitlyn's tongue poked the inside of her cheek in annoyance. She had obviously talked to Jacob about this beforehand.

"Is that why you were asking about what parts would mess up a car?" She asked in disbelief.

Jacob only nodded in response causing her to scoff. You and Abi turned to face Emma who only looked uncomfortable at his reason for keeping them all there. You could already sense what was going on through her mind.

In the midst of your daze, you didn't notice Nick holding onto your hand and giving a small squeeze of reassurance. Your nerves and worries died down because of the display of affection. Sure there were kisses and intimate touches during the summer, but the ones after tonight were different.

They were filled with sincerity and love, not lust.

Apparently, time had passed quickly throughout the talk and you were now back in the interrogation room with the officer and his coworker bodyguard.
