Amanda's POV

I didn't get better after some rest. It had been a week and I was still laying in bed, sick. I was nowhere near getting better, in fact, I felt as if I was getting worse.

"I'm going to throw up", I said before bending over the bucket next to my bed. Rose looked at me in disgust. I understood her. I was not looking good at the moment.

"Have you gone to the hospital yet?", she asked from her position in my desk chair. I groaned and leaned back on my pillows. My head was spinning, even after the painkillers I had taken a little earlier.

"I don't think I would make it out the door", I told Rose with a croaky voice. My throat was burning.

A thump came from the window. Both Rose and I jumped in our seats and a small scream came from Rose's lips. I saw a small silhouette. It looked like a bird, but not exactly like the ones you usually saw. It looked like and owl, even though I knew how weird that sounded. What was even weirder, it looked like it had a piece of paper in it's mouth. Rose bolted from the chair and went up to the window.

"What are you doing? Don't let it in!", I exclaimed. Rose didn't listen and instead opened the window. It turned out to actually be an owl. It flew inside and calmly landed on my nightstand. A letter was stuck in it's mouth, a letter wit my name on it. I carefully put the letter between my two fingers and the bird let go. It then stuck it's beak in the untouched soup on the nightstand. I frowned in disgust and slowly turned my attention to the letter in my hands. Carefully I opened it.

Hello Amanda

It's James. I haven't been able to write to you any sooner. School is starting soon, as you know, and I've been in Diagon Alley for the past two days. My mum is fussing over me getting all my stuff in time. I think it's quite stupid. I mean, it's not my first year anymore.

Anyhow! How are you? I'd love to see you before we go to school, if you'd like. When are you going to America? I hope you get the letter, by the way. Hedwig II has had trouble with directions for the last couple of months. Only cares about food.

Your friend,

James

I read the letter a couple of times. First of all, I had no idea what Diagon Alley was. It must've been a place for magical beings. Second, he wanted to se me again? I hadn't really expected him to actually write to me. We had only known each other for a day, and keeping contact without having each other's numbers seemed unlikely.

"What does it say?", Rose asked and sat down beside me, momentarily forgetting about my sickness. Before I could reply, she had already started reading. After she was done she looked at me with a huge smile.

"You two got to meet up!", she exclaimed happily. I rolled my eyes at her excitement.

"I can't. He thinks I'm magical, and even though that lie worked for a day I don't think it will if we meet again", I told her which caused a frown to appear on her face. I put the letter on my nightstand and turned my gaze too the owl. It was kind of cute, grey and quite small.

"You lied? What did you say?", she asked me and I turned back around to her. With a sigh I remembered my horrible lie that I had come up with in the heat of the moment.

"I told him that I went to Miss Robichaux's Academy", I told her.

"I recognize that name. Where's it from?" For a second I debated not telling her, but realized that it was best if at least someone knew everything.
