Amanda's POV

I knew that my hand was twitching underneath the table. I knew that I was supposed to not react this way. I knew that it was pointless being paranoid. Even if I had stolen something, I had not had a choice. With this in mind, I still felt as if every single teacher was giving me dirty looks.

"I wonder what's been stolen", Scorpius spoke to Dolan. The two were sitting next to me, while Allison and Christina sat opposite us. I didn't speak on the subject. I knew that my words would have to be carefully chosen, or maybe I just felt that way because of the guilt I was feeling. I had never stolen anything in my entire life, but I guess I had already made that obvious.

"Probably something important, or else McGonagall wouldn't have told us anything", Christina said while chewing her food. I myself was only showing the chicken stew I had on my own plate around. Hunger seemed to be pointless at the time.

"Or maybe something personal and embarrassing", Allison guessed with a smirk. She had already finished her food and was taking small sips from her glass. I put down my fork and looked around the room. Everyone was still speaking about the theft, even though it had been three days since we had all been told about it. It bothered me to hear everyones interest in it. Just hearing people speak about it made the guilt flare up inside of me.

"It probably wasn't anything from professor Bell. I mean, who wants anything that has anything to do with muggles. That would just be useless", Dolan scoffed, making me turn to him with a scowl on my face. I had found the perfect opportunity to change the subject.

"Muggle things aren't useless. I mean, if the wizard community used technology we would be pretty damn unstoppable", I spoke matter-of-factly. Dolan rolled his eyes at my words, not buying it. Christina didn't seem that convinced either. Allison was looking at something else and not really paying attention, while Scorpius seemed interested in the new subject.

"Please! There is nothing we could do with any muggle things that we can't already do", Dolan pointed out, although he was wrong. I could name plenty things the wizard community could not do, but that would take too much time.

"Could you find any information you want about the world in seconds? Because that is possible with internet, which is a muggle thing", I argued. Dolan frowned a little in confusion and tilted his head to the side. Scorpius also seemed a bit confused, as did Christina.

"What is an internet?", she questioned. I looked at the three people in front of me as if they all had three heads each. How could they not know what internet was?! I mean, even if they were magical, they should have known what it is. Everyone knows what internet is. At least I had thought so.

"It's something that you can use with your phone or computer. It connects you to a network that lets you do all possible things. You can contact friends, watch videos or listen to music. It's amazing", I explained vaguely. Explaining something like the internet to people who had never heard of it wasn't easy. Because of how diverse the internet was it was hard to just sum it up in words.

"That sounds weird. I mean I barely understood what you were explaining", Dolan spoke in confusion. Both he and Christina still looked confused. Scorpius however looked more understanding. Maybe Scorpius had learned more about the muggle society than Dolan and Christina had done in their home.

"It isn't that weird. You don't really need to understand it to be able to use it", I told them with a smile. With that the conversation ended and we all decided to leave and head to our lessons. My mind automatically wandered back to my paranoia. I prepared myself to get caught, even though there was no evidence that I had done anything. I didn't even have the bottle. I had sent it away.
