Chapter 16

Manik makes his way downstairs. He looked at his uncle who is working in the kitchen.

Manik: "Uncle bhai ghar agaye?". Manik asked.

Uncle: "ji beta wo toh kab ka agaye".

Manik: "Kya? Toh apna mujhe bataya kyun nahi".

Uncle: "Chota baba mein apko uthane aaya tha par app so raha tha toh". Uncle said.

Manik: "It's ok uncle koi baat nahi, abh kahan hain bhai".

Uncle: "Wo toh apne study mein hain".

Manik: "Aur study kahan?".

Uncle: "Third-floor par hain, centre mein aur hain sirf study mein jana aur kahi nahi". Uncle said in a serious tone making Manik confused. Manik nodded his head nonchalantly.

Manik: "Ok, thank you, uncle". Maink said.

Manik makes his way to the third floor using the elevator. Manik reach the third floor he was about to knock on the door when his gaze fall on the room which is on the corner of the floor.

Out of curiosity, he makes his way to the room. Twisted the knock he try to open the door. But the door was locked.

Manik becomes confused as to why the door is locked but he leaves it because his main concern is form, not the room.

Manik knock on the door of the study before going inside after hearing Arjun's voice.

Manik looked at Arjun who is working on the laptop without looking up.

Arjun: "Uncle coffee yahan rakh dijiye". Arjun said still working without looking up.

Manik becomes confused and innocently says.

Manik(innocently): "Coffee? Sorry bhai par uncle na mujhe koi coffee nahi di agar app bolo toh main niche jakar lekar aaun". Manik said with full of innocence on his face making Arjun look at him.

Arjun: "Nahi manik mujhe laga uncle hain. Wo sab choro aur batao tum yahan kyun ayen hon koi kam hain?".

Manik looked at him nervously standing on his toes.

Manik: "Wo mujhe apse kuch kam hain?".

Arjun: "Hain bolo kya kam hai?". Arjun said facing him fully now.

Manik: "Mujhe apka signature chahiya".
Manik demanded making Arjun raise his eyebrows.

Arjun: "Mera signature par kyun?".

Manik: "Aryy bhai kyun faltu mein itna sawal puch kar time waste kar raha hon sign kardo na". Manik said but immediately looked down after seeing a stern expression on Arjun's face.

Arjun(sternly): "Manik why do you need my signature".

Manik: "Arry bhai app toh aisa react kar raha hon jaisa main apka signature form par nahi property paper par mang liya".

Arjun: "Manik!". Arjun said sternly.

Manik: "Wo bhai wo baat yeh hain bhai baat yeh hain ka baat wo hain wo actually baat yeh hain ka wo hain". Manik tries to form words making Arjun look at him worriedly.

Arjun stand from his place and went near Manik. Held his shoulder stopping his nonstop rambling.

Arjun guided Manik to the couch make him sit there and sat beside him. Arjun asked again this time softly and gently.

Arjun(Softly): "Mannu bacha kya hua kyun chahiya mera signature bata?".

Manik look down fidgeting his fingers nervously. Arjun allows Manik to take his time.

Manik: "Wo bhai actually na college mein na wo principal hain na unho na bola guardian ka naam batao aur main apka naam bata diya". Manik said the last line with closed eyes.

Arjun looked at Manik with a blank expression trying to disgust what Manik says. But Manik again took silence mistakenly.

Arjun is angry with him now he will hate him and throw him out of the house. Manik thought and started to cry loudly.

Here Arjun who was in his deep thought. Came out of his thoughts got shocked to see him crying.

Arjun immediately took Manik in his arms cursing himself how could he forget Manik is an overthinker?

Arjun: "Mannu bas bacha ro kyun raha hon." Arjun asked him the reason but he have an idea what it could be.

Manik(Crying): "App..ek.dum (Suddenly) se...chup..hogaye..mujhe..laga..app...
mujhese..naraz...hon". Manik said while crying.

Arjun: "Nahi bacha aisa kuch bhi nahi rona band karo". Arjun said wiping Manik's tears.

Manik: "Toh apko mera guardian bana main koi problem nahi".

Arjun: "Mannu bacha mein tumhara legal guardian nahi hon. Aur aisa mein tumhara college record mein mujhe as a guardian mention karna. I don't think it's right bacha.

Manik: "Toh app ban jao na mere legal guardian vaise bhi main 17 ka hoon you can adopt me".

Arjun looked at Manik with a startled expression.

Arjun: "Tum kya sach mein yeh chata hon ka mein tumhe adopt karlun".

Manik nodded his head nervously.

Arjun(happily): "Theak hain I will adopt you". Manik hugged Arjun tightly with tears.

Arjun got worried after seeing tears in his eyes.

Arjun: "Mannu bacha kya hua tum phirsa kyun ro raha hon".

Manik: "Mujhe yakeen nahi horaha bhai ka mere bhi koi family hain. Thank you bhai hain (yes) bolna ka liya". Manik said and Arjun just smile at him.

Manik: "Par bhai apko koi problem toh nahi haina mujhe adopt karna mein".

Arjun: "Mujhe kya problem hogi mannu mujhe bhi ek pyare si family aur bhai chahiya tha aur dheko mujhe dono ek sath milgaye". Arjun said.

Manik: "I love you bhai". Manik said while hugging him.

Arjun: "I love you too beta". Arjun replied with a smile
