The next day, Lord Harry texted me offering to pick me up for dinner, despite it being rather out of the way for him, but Coleman insisted that I accept a ride there in his limousine. He'd been hovering around me when Harry's text came in.
"I am not a close acquaintance of Harrison's," he informed me. "And I cannot attest to his character. Better to have your own ride than to be dependent on him, should he be of dubious character."
I looked up at Coleman with an impish smile. "Aw, you're worried about me," I teased.
He looked at me for a second before redirecting his eyes to some pillar. "Is that not allowed?" he asked frostily.
I laughed. "I'll allow it."
"How generous," he drawled.
I placed my hand on his shoulder, which made him turn to look at me with his green eyes wider than normal. "Thanks," I said. "I appreciate you looking out for my safety."
"Well..." he trailed off for a second, just staring deeply into my eyes in the sort of way that would make my heart pound if we weren't just platonic friends; the quickening of my heartbeat was probably just a sudden attack heartburn. He cleared his throat. "I would do it for any young woman off to see a man with questionable intentions."
I rose an eyebrow, and slipped my hand from his shoulder. "Do you really think Lord Harry has questionable intentions?"
"Cassie," he started. "He is a young man. Most of us have questionable intentions. I would know!"
I chuckled in spite of it all. "You certainly would!"

The restaurant, Rosatelli's, was a smidge nicer than the McDonald's Coleman had taken me to—in fact, it was very nice, and I was suddenly grateful for all the money I'd saved up over the past several months because I was certain this restaurant would cost a pretty penny.
The waiter showed me to my table, and I only had to wait a few minutes before Harry arrived wearing grey pants and a black dress shirt. He looked quite smart, in my opinion.
"Cassie." He smiled upon seeing me. "You look ravishing, as always."
I wore a simple black dress with gold jewelry and my hair pulled back, but I was glad he appreciated my outfit.
"Thank you," I said. "You look great, too."
We ordered our food, and Harry told me that he thought my leaving the castle would be a step in the right direction, since I couldn't stay Calista's lady-in-waiting. He asked me what sort of things I was interested in and promised he would look into it in a conversation that took all of five minutes. He then continued on to ask me more about myself, where exactly I was from, how many family members I had, etc. Among other things, I learned that he had three sisters and that he enjoyed playing polo with his friends. It was all-in-all a pleasant dinner, even if it didn't do much for my career.
