Levi's voice sounded groggy, he must have just woken up and when he saw that you weren't in bed beside him, he got up to look for you. And there he saw you in the library, looking a little bit startled when he spoke.

"What's wrong?" he asked when he got near you. While you had already put the book back on the shelf, Levi seemed like he didn't notice.

"Nothing," you said, but you knew he wouldn't take that as an answer. "I had a dream, that's all."

"A nightmare?"

It wasn't like a nightmare, it was more like a recurring memory that had been buried deep within your mind which decided to resurface while you were sleeping peacefully. Whether it resurfaced at the right time or not, at least now you had made sense of the odd familiarity you had with that painting.

"It wasn't...a nightmare" you answered, trailing off, looking back at him when you realized that you had averted your gaze from him briefly.

"Still, you could have woken me up," Levi said, moving a bit closer while you still stood near the shelf. "And told me all about it instead of you going all the way here. Why did you even go here? This place is creepy as hell during the night."

"Are you scared of haunted libraries?" you asked with a mischievous look on your face along with a teasing tone of your voice while Levi moved closer that made you take a step back until your back hit the shelf.

"Who's scared?" he asked back in a challenging tone before putting his hand on the edge of the bookshelf beside you and leaned closer. His eyes are sharp and narrowed, which accentuated his looks more than he cared to know.

"We'll continue this later," he suddenly said and for a second you were confused at his words. "That was what you said earlier, right?"

If possible he leaned even closer to you that his forehead almost touched yours.

"What about Lucas?" you asked, thinking about your son being left alone in the bedroom.

"He wouldn't wake up for a few hours," Levi said, then his eyes flickered up at you. "Now, where did we leave off earlier?"

"Why don't you refresh my memories?" you asked back, the teasing smile going back to your lips.

"Sure," he said before finally closing the gap between you two and you felt his lips touch yours.

But before you can even feel the warmth of his lips, Levi leaned back which made you furrow your brows. But you noticed the upturn of the side of his lips in a smirk.

"Was that on purpose?" you asked.

"You asked me to refresh your memories. That's where we left off earlier."

Then before you can say anything else he suddenly yanked you closer to him and sealed your lips with his. For a moment you were caught off guard and your shoulders stiffened but it didn't take long for your body to slacken. You returned the kiss that tasted of mint tea which Levi must have had before he went to bed, you thought.
