A/N: IF YOU GUYS CAN GET "BREAK THE CYCLE" UP TO 20K VIEWS I WILL POST A SPECIAL SNEAK PREVIEW OF THE SEQUEL.

McKayla put all of her focus into the last few rehearsals as they came along. However, outside of rehearsal, she often thought about...other things. For instance, she wondered how the MIW video shoot went. McKayla hadn't spoken to Chris since she'd gone to see him. And God knows she didn't currently have the time to try and get a hold of him online.

McKayla was currently at home. She still had quite a bit of unpacking to do, but she'd gotten a lot done. Sophie was with her now as well, rubbing McKayla's sore feet.

"Ohh, that feels sooo good." McKayla says.

"Your feet are so weird." Sophie says.

"I'm a dancer! Of course my feet are weird!" McKayla says before laughing.

Sophie laughs too, then there's a pause.

"So...Have you talked to Chris at all?" Sophie asks.

"No."

"Do you want to?"

"I don't know...Why, what did you do?"

Sophie laughs, "Nothing, nothing; you just seemed really happy when you came back from seeing him at the hotel. But you haven't even really talked about him since..."

"Since what?"

"Since you listened to their album." Sophie says, coming to the realization.

McKayla doesn't say anything. She knew she was busted though.

"Something you wanna tell me?" Sophie asks.

McKayla sighs, "I'm gonna get a pad and a pen, write down some of their lyrics, and I want you to tell me if you think I'm crazy or not."

"Well, if you're my daughter, you probably already are crazy; but let's give it a shot."

x

"Now do you see?"

"I think I do."

"I think there may be a few more reasons as to why Chris and Carlie broke up that he didn't mention to me."

"Well you aren't gonna find out until you talk to him, are you?"

"But what if I don't want to find out? He and I are both really buy now and if what I'm thinking is true, then - "

"McKayla, honey...you've worked so hard, and now you're making one of your biggest dreams a reality. And as incredible as that is and as proud of you as I am for doing it, I know that this isn't your only dream. I know you want to fall in love and settle down dome day."

"Yeah, someday. I'm twenty-three, Mom. I've got my whole life for that."

Sophie gives McKayla a deadpanned look.

"And...I guess that I've just sort of had a hard time trusting guys since the whole Jamie incident."

"McKayla, that was five years ago."

"So?! Jamie killed my father and tried to kill me all because his friend's brother was killed in that damned school shooting!"

"As Chris ever given you a reason not to trust him?"

"Well he did make out with me behind Carlie's back, so..."

"Okay, I see your point."

"Uh huh."

"But that was when you were eighteen. I still think that if you want to give anyone another chance, Chris is the one."

"Why are you so obsessed with the idea of me and Chris together? It's kinda weird."

Sophie laughs, "You two remind me of kind of a punk-rock version of your father and myself in high school?"

McKayla couldn't help but smile, "Really?"

"Mhm. Before we started dating, we were very close. He was my best friend, we saw each other every day, we walked to school together, he gave me his lettermans jacket on a cold day, we went to Prom together; noticing a pattern here? We graduated together, and seven years later, we'd been married a while and had Matthew on the way." Sophie says, "All I'm saying is...if you get the chance to see Chris again, take it. You might regret it if you don't."

"Well...I emailed him tickets for the show because he said he wanted to see me perform...I doubt he'll come, but..."

"Maybe you can see him on tour some time. They're touring with a band called Black Veil Brides next month. Have you ever heard of them?"

"Everyone's heard of them, Mom."

"Hey, I'm old! Gimmie a break!"

They laugh, then Sophie continues.

"Look, honey, Phantom is gonna go for a few months, and then maybe you should take a little break."

McKayla sighs, "Yeah, maybe."

There's a pause.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Sophie asks.

"Well...maybe you're right." McKayla says, "I mean, I've gotten to live my dream; that's more than a lot of people in this world can say. Maybe...maybe after Phantom, I should take some time off. I mean, I love what I do; but the hours are long, my feet always hurt...and I really miss Mt. Dew." She says with a laugh before continuing.

"I mean, I'm young. I wanna travel, I wanna go be stupid, I wanna meet people and have a social life and just be twenty-three for a while."

Sophie smiles, "I'm glad to hear it. But, in the mean time, you've got a lot of work to do with rehearsals and performing, so you should get some sleep."

x

McKayla had a lot to think about on her job the next morning. What would she do after Phantom was over? She wanted to go out to eat at cool restaurants, she wanted to go out to clubs, maybe have a one night stand...What would she do for work? She wanted something new, but nothing too far outside of her comfort zone...Maybe she could teach dance! She wouldn't know how to teach acting or singing, but she could teach dance.

Maybe things would work out after all...

A/N: Okay, kind of a lame filler, but there was some important stuff here! Is Chris going to come to the show? What is McKayla going to do when she starts her "break" from performing? Are the lyrics Chris wrote really about McKayla? You'll have to read to find out!

IMPORTANT! I feel like people are just too shy or feel like they're being mean so they won't do this; but if at any time you see any kind of grammar, punctuation or spelling errors in ANY of my stories, PLEASE tell me and correct me so I can edit it. I won't be offended, you won't be insulting my writing; if anything, you'll be helping me! I like to think I'm pretty good with the spelling and grammar and usually the only time I use it "wrong" is usually on purpose because I'll do it in dialogue to portray a certain dialect or the way a person is speaking, you know? Anyway, if you see a big error in what you're reading, please tell me so I can fix it. Thank you.

Leave me lots of feedback! I love all of your votes and all of your comments so please leave me lots of them!

xoxo, Scissorhands.
