Briana walked in and shook Casey's hand. "Miss Johnson, thank you so much to agreeing to talk to me today. It's an honor to talk to someone with your expertise."
Casey smiled and shook her hand. "Thank you. You can just call me Casey. It's nice to meet you. I've seen your work. You're very talented."
Briana smiled and sat down. "Thank you."
Casey also sat down. "Julia- uh, that is, Steven's girlfriend... Julia told me you've been very insistent on talking to me. May I ask why?"
Briana smiled. "You are innovating in amazing ways since leaving Prince Industries. Prince Industries didn't visibly use your talents very often. I would like to know more about what someone with your skills was doing in a business setting, personally working with former CEO Charles Prince."
Casey blinked. "Oh... Uh... Where to start?" She tapped her fingers on the table. "Well, for one thing, I handled cyber security and inner-company research and innovation. I still occasionally help with cyber security if I'm needed. Since Charles was my friend, I help Steven and Julia free of charge. It's not like it's that challenging anyway."
"Exactly why I wonder... What kept you there so long if it wasn't a challenge?" Briana asked.
Casey laughed. "It wasn't always so easy... I rebuilt Prince Industries' system from the ground up. I also was really young when I started working for Charles. He taught me a lot about business and people skills. I've gotten better, but they're still not my strengths. If it wasn't for Charles noticing me, the world might have never noticed me at all."
Briana shook her head. "I highly doubt that. With your father's background, I'm sure you would have made it to where you are now anyway."
"Well, despite that, I wouldn't trade my years working with Charles for anything," Casey said, shrugging.
"I see..." Briana wrote some things down. "Your first project with Mr. Prince was an app that made it impossible to detect if the film had been altered. This also conveniently took place around the time Aspen Prince was in a burning building. In the viral video, Jacob is shown to run through the wall of a burning building, presumably to rescue her. Is this correct?"
"Yes," Casey agreed, worried about where she was going with this.
"Now... My question is why would you test the software while Aspen's life was in danger, if this is truly a leak like you claim?" Briana asked.
Casey blinked. "The footage was taken from the scene after Aspen was safe, then I edited Jacob into the scene. I made the video as a demo for Charles to showcase the software."
"I see... And the beginning of your employment was the same day, correct?" Briana asked.
Casey shifted slightly in her seat. "Yes...? I'm sorry, are you trying to imply something, Miss Bell?"
"Briana is fine," Briana said. "And I am merely reviewing the facts and asking questions, Casey. Should I be implying something?"
Casey blinked then shook her head. "No, of course not."
"Mhm." Briana wrote something down. "Now, for my final question about the video incident... Was the software created before or after the fire?"
"The software was finalized after the fire," Casey agreed. "The video was made in anticipation of the software being completed. Once Charles returned from the doctor, I showed him the video. Unfortunately, Quinn leaked our video to try to take away attention from Prince Industries."
"I see..." Briana wrote something down then stared her in the eye. "Earlier, you said you were responsible for cyber security for Prince Industries. How did your video get into his hands if this was one of your specialties?"
Casey didn't hesitate. "This was before I replaced the company's system. Unfortunately, the old system was pretty terrible."
Briana was silent for a moment then wrote something down. "I see... Switching gears, what about Mr. Prince's and Mr. Potvin's relationship?"
"Eric and Charles?" Casey asked. "Oh, I think they're old friends. Maybe they went to school together? I'm not really sure."
"So, the FBI was not and is currently not involved with Prince Industies?" Briana asked.
Casey hesitated then shook her head. "I didn't say that. But all businesses in the industry specialization Prince Industries is in have the FBI involved to some degree in their work."
"Thank you," Briana said, writing something down. "Do you know what the company's abandoned factory was used for?"
"The abandoned factory?" Casey asked, confused.
Briana slid over a picture to refresh her memory. "Or perhaps it wasn't a factory?"
"I'm sorry. I wasn't working there before it was abandoned," Casey explained.
"Hm." Briana took the picture back. "Is there any connection with this abandoned building and the several year disappearances of Aspen, Brooke, Charlotte, Brandon, Rylee, Jacob, Xaiver, Blane, and Lucia?"
Casey glanced at her for a moment. "What? No. As Mr. Prince has previously stated, Aspen and the others were all sent to a private school. Besides Jacob, who was with his abusive father before the FBI rescued him."
"The children were not returned for summers?" Briana pressed.
"All I can say is that dad and I personally kept in touch with my little sister. You would have to ask the other families," Casey said.
Briana wrote more down then nodded. "I see... And what is your current focus?"
"Oh, uh..." Casey blinked, thinking. "Well, I have multiple projects in the works, including teleportation, new medicines, and improving space travel."
"Teleportation and space travel?" Briana asked, surprised. "I must have missed those announcements when I was preparing for the interview."
Casey blinked. "Oh, uh... It hasn't been announced. But that's fine. Feel free to break the news."
"Are you sure?" Briana asked.
"I am." Casey nodded. "It's not as if you're leaking my blueprints. I don't mind."
"I think I have all I need for my article," Briana said, standing. "Thank you very much for your cooperation, Casey."
Casey also stood. "Oh, sure! Thanks for coming by."
They shook hands then Briana left. Casey took a deep breath then plopped on the couch, rubbing her head. Briana clearly believed something was going on... Casey just hoped she didn't confirm anything unintentionally.
