Zeus ran a hand through his hair and walked in to the meeting room. He froze as he saw Grace hostage, and Ambros smirking at him.
"Hello little brother," Ambros greeted. "I know you think of Grace as your own, but she is my creation."
"No, she's Anaya's," Zeus said, narrowing his eyes. "Let her go, or I swear-"
"Ah ah ah. One snap is all it would take to destroy her physical form. Even if you brought her back, she wouldn't remember anything," Ambros interrupted.
Zeus took a breath. "Ambros, I overpower you now. Anything you do to hurt her, I will do to you a thousand times worse."
"But I'll win in the end if I destroy her. So... Will you hear me out?" Ambros asked.
"That depends. What do you want?" Zeus asked, clenching his fists.
"I want to be over unreality. Give me your position, or she's gone-"
Zeus laughed, cutting him off. "Me? Give you power? Never."
"Not even for your precious Grace?" Ambros asked, frowning in surprise.
"If it was the only way? Sure, I would. But it's not..." Zeus began glowing. "You forget, brother. You and Merle became famous in reality through legends as a powerful wizard. But me?" Thunder rumbled. "I became the legend of Zeus, ruler of Olympus and god of thunder."
Zeus began walking toward Ambros slowly.
Ambros looked around in shock. "Thunder in unreality? What the-?"
"That was before I ever took over Cloud's job. Imagine what legends they'll make about me now. Maybe it'll start with a pest named Ambros Mythos trying to overthrow Zeus and being squashed like a fly. No one will hurt my Grace or my Astrid. Not even you." Zeus stopped and crossing his arms. "So... Let. Her. Go."
Ambros flinched as some thunder rumbled. "...I... No."
His eyes narrowed, and he snapped. Grace faded into light.
Zeus froze, the glow from his eyes fading. "N-no... I..."
Ambros laughed. "About time. She got what she deserved. I lost everything because of you and her. Now you will lose everything too. Who's next? Aria or Astrid?"
Zeus's eyes glowed brighter than before. "You're done. I've given you too many chances, and you always blow it. You are a danger to reality and unreality, a heartless monster, and beyond redemption. Zeus is also known for upholding justice, so that's what I'm going to do now."
He snapped and a bolt of lightning so powerful struck where Ambros was, causing a rumble of thunder heard all across unreality.
"Zeus! Zeus, chill out!" Ursula called.
"You idiot! I told you not to prank him!" Merle snapped. "Too far, Ursula."
Thunder continued to rumble. The illusion of Ambros was gone. Zeus fell to his knees and sobbed as the lightning struck all over unreality. Storms shouldn't ever be in unreality, but Zeus's emotional breakdown caused one anyway.
"What have you two done? Move!" Maze said, pushing past them and hurrying over beside Zeus. He kneeled beside him and pulled him into a tight hug. "Zeus, I don't know what they did, but you need to try to calm down."
"No!" Zeus said, pushing him away. "Grace is gone! How can I calm down?!"
"Grace is...?" Maze blinked in confusion. "What?"
Merle got an idea. "Maze, buy me some time."
Ursula slowly backed out of the room, but she was stopped by Ariana, who held her accountable for her prank.
"Zeus, unreality can't take this storm. You have to stop. You still have Aria and Astrid!" Maze tried.
Zeus just sobbed. The lightning destroyed the building. Maze struggled to recreate it as the lightning continued redestroying it.
Merle appeared. "Zeus! I have her. She's fine!"
The storm instantly eased up. He took a sharp breath and glanced over. When he saw her, the storm disappeared.
"Grace... Oh my gosh..." Zeus said, wiping away his tears. "I thought you were dead."
Grace frowned and slowly walked over to him. "No, I'm fine... I promise. So are Astrid and Soren."
Zeus scrambled to get up and started to hug her. "Oh, wait... Sorry. You're still afraid of me-"
Grace cut him off, hugging him tightly. Zeus's eyes widened, then he smiled and hugged back tightly.
"What happened?" Maze asked Merle quietly.
"Ursula made an illusion where Ambros destroyed Grace in front of Zeus," Merle said, frowning. "She's good with illusions. People can't tell the difference."
"Why would she do that?" Maze said, sighing and rubbing his head.
"Because it's April 1st - April Fool's Day," Ariana explained, walking in and rubbing her head. "We all know Ursula's twisted idea of pranks."
"Like the time she convinced us that unreality was collapsing," Maze agreed.
"Or the time she made me think Ambros died - before he went crazy," Merle said, sighing.
"And the time she made me think dad was going to destroy me because I missed a training session," Ariana chimed in. "Yeah, so... Poor Zeus. She's the queen of twisted pranks. Happy April Fools Day, I guess...?"
Zeus continued hugging Grace tightly, heart still racing from the shock. Grace knew her fears were irrational. How could someone who reacted like that to her fake death be scary? She still wanted the nightmares to stop, but this improved her perception of Zeus.
