Ian froze when he saw Caleb. That was the kid who spared him all those years ago... Would he change his mind now after everything? Caleb's eyes met his, and they stayed silent in a busy street. Caleb could be stealthy in people's minds, but Ian didn't need to feel his presence to know he was looking.
"Hi," Ian finally said, sticking his hands in his pockets. "It's...been a while now."
Caleb eyed him hesitantly. 'It has. You've... Done a lot since then.'
"Not all bad," Ian pointed out. "But... I'm sure you noticed the bad parts."
'Yeah. You... You hurt a lot of people...'
"I know. I'm sorry. But I'm not the same guy anymore," Ian explained.
Caleb stared at him for a moment. 'I see... You're doing a lot to try to fix the damage you caused.'
Ian smiled and shrugged. "Yeah. I'm using my power for good now. What have you been up to?"
'I had to leave Aegis after I let you go. I've been wandering ever since, doing odd jobs and getting by well enough. I've been fine.'
Ian gave him an unconvinced look. "With the level of connections Aegeans normally have, wandering aimlessly is no sort of life for you." He thought for a moment then walked over. "Come with me, Caleb. I'll introduce you to my family. They're better people than I am. You need somewhere to stay anyway. It's your culture to be in community, and this isn't healthy. Plus... I could use your help with some missions if you're up for it."
Caleb considered this for a moment then hesitantly nodded. 'I... Okay. I'll come with you. But if you try anything like you used to, I'll do what I have to.'
"I understand," Ian agreed. "But you can read my mind. You know I'm being genuine." He offered Caleb a hand, smiling softly. "Come on. I'll introduce you to my girlfriend."
Caleb hesitated then nodded, taking his hand. 'Okay. I'm with you.'
Ian smiled and teleported them to the moon.
