Lyn appeared.
Everyone stopped talking.
"Lyn?" Nate asked, surprised.
"What are you all looking at?" Lyn said, crossing her arms.
'I can't believe dad is finally gone. No one really knows me here, but they know me better than anyone else. But if they're going to be like this, then- Wait, who's that?'
Lyn looked over at Caleb curiously. "You're new."
I'm Caleb. It's nice to meet you, Lyn.
Lyn blinked in surprise. "A telepath? Huh, interesting... Hi Caleb. I'm Lyn Mythos. Do you know about the Mythos family?"
Caleb read her mind. "...I do now."
Lyn blinked in surprise at his voice then smiled sheepishly.
"His voice has that effect," Sadia said, shaking her head.
"Anyway, Lyn, Caleb is Ian and my stepbrother," Nate explained.
Lyn nodded. "I see."
'It's nice to see them again...'
You should tell them that.
'No way. Have you seen Ian's ego? Not a chance.'
Caleb smiled and shook his head. Fair enough.
Sadia glanced at Lyn. "Hey Lyn, Nate and Ender keep calling us kids. How old are you?"
Lyn blinked. "Me? Uh... That depends. Like...how old is my body?"
"Uh... Sure?" Sadia shrugged.
Lyn shrugged, sitting down. "My body is... Probably 24-ish?"
"You forgot your age already?" Ian joked.
"You're as old as the dimension?" Caleb asked, surprised.
Lyn nodded. "I didn't always have a physical body. I was just the dimension itself. I had some semblence of control, but not really... So, if you account for the fact that the dimension is older than anything inside it, I'm technically the oldest. But in terms of being an actual person, I'm only in my 20s."
Ian blinked, jaw dropping. "What?!"
Nate took a deep breath to restrain himself from asking a million questions. "That is...really, really cool."
Lyn frowned. "Is it? I'd be happy to trade places with you. Do you know what every variation of the Powers Dimension that was given a physical form is named?"
"Lyn?" Nate guessed.
"Gracelyn," Lyn corrected. "Most go by Grace. I refused to be like my sisters, so I call myself Lyn instead. But I'm still just a variation. The original is the closest to being unique. Grace has it all. Uncle Zeus, a little girl, a husband... And all I was was dad's puppet. I'm glad he's gone now, but I still was never meant to be a person. That leaves me without any clear direction. All I know is... I have this subconscious pull toward Earth. That's why I came back."
Nate frowned. "Grace-"
"Who cares what you're supposed to do?" Ian interrupted. "No one should have to be 'supposed to' do anything. You're free now. You can try all the foods you've seen, talk to people, have a life - your own life. You'll find something you care about if you give it some time. Ambros created you as a means to an end, but now that he's gone, you can do whatever you want. Take hold of the reigns and live your own life now."
Nate blinked in surprise, and Sadia listened quietly. Caleb smiled slightly, knowing the effect Ian's words had on Lyn.
Lyn blinked in surprise and smiled. "...thanks Ian. I needed that. In that case... Think Earth has room for one more?"
"Absolutely," Sadia quickly agreed. "Arc already said you're welcome here."
Lyn smiled then quickly hid how happy it made her. "Um...cool. Anyway..."
It's okay to be happy.
'I know you know what I think and how I feel, but you should also know how guarded I've been. I'm not ready to completely lower my defenses... At least not yet.'
Okay. But when you are, know you'll be okay.
Ender appeared. "What are you guys-?" He paused. "Lyn?"
Lyn waved. "Hi."
Ender waved then glanced around, stopping as he noticed Caleb. "Who's this?"
I'm Caleb. Nate and Ian are my stepbrothers. It's nice to meet you, Ender.
'You can transmit your thoughts to my head, but stay out of my thoughts.'
He put up a mental barrier, which Caleb could break through if he wanted to. Caleb chose to leave him alone though.
Ender smiled slightly. "Hi."
"I say we go get Caleb and Lyn their first taste of Earth icecream," Ian suggested.
"Icecream?" Sadia asked excitedly. "I haven't tried that yet!"
"Remind me why I can't call you three kids again?" Ian teased.
"Because compared to me, you're all kids," Ender teased, raising an eyebrow.
Ian blinked. "Wha- ugh..."
Sadia and Caleb laughed, highfiving.
Lyn smiled slightly. "Anyway, I'd like that."
Nate grinned. "Great! Let's go."
He teleported them there.
