Ian removed his dagger from the princess and watched her collapse. She was going to be a tyrant like this planet had never seen. Ian wanted to prevent that from happening.
Caleb's eyes widened. "Wha- this is why you wanted me to sneak us in the castle?"
"Mhm. Now... Let's get out of here before-" Ian began before being knocked out.
Caleb's eyes widened. Without Ian, he was stuck here.
"A telepath?" Cole said, glancing at him. "Hm... Get the farim."
Caleb's eyes widened, but he didn't resist as they restrained him. Without Ian, he couldn't get himself and Ian out of this nearly as easily. A guard ran back in with the farim cuffs, putting them on Caleb. Caleb winced, instantly getting a splitting headache. The ache worsened as the seconds passed. They half-dragged Caleb and Ian to the prison.
Ian was slapped hard.
He groaned and woke up. "Okay, okay! I'm up. Jeez..."
"You killed our princess, Rybro," the guard said, giving him a look. "We've given you a sedative to inhibit your powers, so don't bother trying anything. You're ours now. You killed Rita, so that will be you and your Aegean friend's punishment, but not before you suffer more than the suffering you caused her."
Ian pulled against the restraints, glaring. "Leave the kid out of this! Do whatever you want to me, but he didn't-"
"Let's see how you react to this stupid dagger," the guard interrupted, cutting him with it repeatedly.
Ian winced. It hurt, but he knew it wouldn't kill him. He had designed this dagger especially for this mission. Monica had taught him how to craft daggers for missions, and he had taken that knowledge with him for years. Ian also knew that his suffering was only as real as he let it be. Zeus had taught him how to detach from reality in moments like this. While it pained him, all he could think about was what they were doing to Caleb... He hoped the kid was okay.
He knew no one was coming for them. For one thing, he hadn't even said where they were going. If Kamara had to find him, he would die of embarrassment. She had never had to save him, and he didn't want that to start ever - especially not now. He would get himself out of this mess somehow...
Caleb sat in a room filled with as much farim as the kingdom had. He was dazed, closing his eyes and trying to block out the pain. It was touching him, surrounding him... He couldn't hear anything. He couldn't even hear Ian. He had never experienced pure silence in his entire life. Being alone with his pain was torture beyond anything they could physically do to him. How long had it even been now? He didn't even know. Just when he thought his headache couldn't get worse, it did. His mind was breaking down. He couldn't take it much longer...

They dragged Caleb out. They didn't bother restraining him any longer. Surely, no telepath could maintain his sanity after all of that. Ian was covered in cuts and bruises, but he was as stubborn as ever.
"Caleb!" Ian exclaimed. "Oh my gosh... What the hell did they do to you?"
"Shut up," the head guard grumbled, whacking Ian upside the head.
Caleb kept silent, dazed. He was slowly processing what was happening. The execution... Ian... He had to get it together. He began gathering all the mental energy he could manage.
Ian frowned, but kept quiet. He couldn't help but feel guilty. Caleb was so young, and Ian had gotten him into quite the mess... What had he done? Was this really the end?
There were boos as Caleb and Ian were led on stage. People threw food at them and yelled all kinds of insults. Ian tried to pull himself free, but he and Caleb were just pushed to their knees.
Ian racked his brain for a clever way to escape, but he didn't have anything. After millions of years, he was going to die by execution to some humans? Seriously? This was not a cool death. And as much as he wished for death in exile, now that he had Kamara, he wanted to live.
"Not so tough now, are you?" the head guard mocked Ian. "Any last words?"
"Yeah... You're welcome," Ian said, glaring up at him with a smirk.
"Why you... KILL HIM!"
Just before they pulled the trigger, the executioner shot the head guard instead. She looked surprised at her own actions, dropping the gun as the guards began to surround her. Caleb took a deep breath and focused, tricking everyone into thinking the executioner was Ian and making them forget he existed. He shakily stood and grabbed the key off the head guard's corpse, undoing Ian's restraints.
"I thought you didn't kill," Ian said, glancing at him in surprise.
"That guy deserved it," Caleb said quietly. "Now, come on... We're going to have to escape my style until the sedative wears off."
They executed the executioner, cheering loudly. Ian was impressed, but he just nodded, leading Caleb off. Ian was a bit slower than normal, but he was managing. With Caleb's influence, they made it to the spaceport relatively easily.
"The guards will be taking this vehicle, and you will be compensated," Caleb said.
The ship owner nodded and handed Caleb the keys.
"I wanna drive," Ian said, following him inside.
"You teleport. What do you know about flying a ship?" Caleb said, shaking his head. "No chance. I'm driving."
He took off the ship and began their final escape.
"Fiiiineee..." Ian reluctantly agreed. "I guess you do have more experience..."
Caleb warped them two galaxies away then landed at a spaceport in a safer, friendlier city. They made their way to a hotel, where Caleb conned them into giving them a free week's stay. Caleb and Ian took turns washing up, then they just rested, waiting for their powers to come back in full. Ian tried to ask Caleb about what happened, but he refused to talk after they got the room. Despite Caleb's silence, he patched Ian up, and Ian reluctantly let him.
Once the sedative wore off a few days later, Ian finally took them back to the moon. Despite their struggles, they had solved it themselves and came back in one piece. Caleb looked fine, but Ian knew they had done something to the poor guy... As for Ian, he looked like the victim of extremely physical torture. For all the guards' planning, they didn't cover their bases. Caleb Vector was no ordinary telepath. They shouldn't have undone his restraints if they knew what was good for them...
