Amory got up after her nap and shuffled into Elsa's room to check on her.
"Wha- Am, should you even be walking?" Hunter asked.
Amory rolled her eyes. "I'm fine. What are you doing in here?"
"Watching her sleep," Hunter said, smiling. "Isn't she cute?"
Amory glanced at Elsa for a moment then over at Hunter. "Yeah..."
Hunter stood up. "Do you wanna sit-?"
"Why did you listen when your mom told you to break up with me?" Amory asked quietly.
Hunter blinked. "What?"
Amory crossed her arms. "You heard me."
Hunter blinked and walked over. "Let's talk outside so we don't wake her up."
He offered her a hand, but she ignored it and walked out. He sighed slightly and followed.
"Amory, I got wrapped up in the moment, and I did something I shouldn't have. She had been pressuring me for months to break up with you, and I finally just gave in to what she said," Hunter said, sticking his hands in his pockets. "I know... It was stupid. I was stupid. And I'm really sorry-"
"You think saying sorry is going to help or even fix the fact that you ruined my life?" Amory interrupted, laughing. "You're an idiot, Hunter. I thought I'd be married with a sweet husband and a daughter. I have one of those things, but you stole the rest of it from me the moment you decided you'd listen to your jerky mom over valuing me and our relationship."
Hunter blinked. "Wha- I didn't ruin your life. Isn't that a bit dramatic, Am?"
"You don't get to decide how your actions affected me," Amory disagreed. "And don't call me that. People who care about me call me Am, and you don't."
"Amory, I do care about you! I tried to propose to you, and you turned me down! I tried to fix my mistake," Hunter replied exasperatedly.
"You listened to your mom and betrayed me. I can't trust you again. Not with how manipulative she is... No matter if you're not like her. You still are very much under her influence. She probably just wanted you to marry me for Beta's sake," Amory said, crossing her arms. "I'm done with our relationship. I'm done with you."
Hunter sighed and shook his head. "We still have a child, Amory. You can never be completely done with me."
Amory glared at him. "I'm so glad I got Elsa out of the pain you put me through, but I wish she wasn't yours."
Hunter frowned. "Amory, you're acting like a child throwing a tantrum. Can you please talk to me calmly?"
Amory scoffed. "I just had a baby! I have every right to be emotional. You're an idiot, I don't like you, and don't ever tell me I'm acting like a child again."
They stared at each other. Amory glared, and Hunter just frowned. Elsa woke up and began crying.
Amory walked in and picked Elsa up, rocking her gently. "Shh... It's okay. Did you have a good nap?"
Elsa calmed down relatively quickly, babbling. Amory smiled and listened. Hunter slowly walked back in, watching quietly.
"Right now, I want you to just give me some space, Hunter," Amory said softly, walking out and to the living room to be with Clem and Nate.
"Wha-" Hunter began then sighed. "Fine."
He shook his head and disappeared. How had things gotten so bad with Amory so quickly? Did she feel this way all along?
