Your pov

It's been two very long weeks since you were able to leave the hospital and return back to your normal life.  Except things have been far from normal, especially since Mal isn't here with you.  You have been staying with Christen and Tobin since you got out of the hospital. They didn't want you to be alone.

"You sure you want to head home today? You can stay as long as you want." Says Christen

"I have to go home sometime; I've been avoiding it for two weeks. I need to rip the band aid off." You say as you pack the rest of your stuff.

"Has Mal checked in with you at all?" Asks Tobin

"No, she hasn't." You say

"I'm sorry Y/n." Says Christen

"Don't be, I'm the one who fucked up. It's my own fault." You say

"You thought you were doing the right thing." Says Tobin

"Yeah, and it cost me everything." You respond zipping up your suitcase.

"y/n." Says Christen

"I'm going to go home. I love you both." You say as you hug them quickly before heading out the door before they can say anything else.

Tobin and Christen picked your car up for you, so you head straight to it and put your bag in. The drive home was silent until you get a phone call. It was Barnes. Hes been checking in with Mal and making sure shes been okay throughout the last couple weeks.

"Hey B, what's up?" You ask

"Hey Y/n, doing alright how about you?" He asks

"I'm great." You respond

"You don't sound great." He says

"I'm not really in the mood." You say

"I know, I just wanted to let you know that I received a new mission. I leave in one week so I might not be able to check in with Mal as much." He says

"If I get cleared, can I go?" You ask

"Y/n I don't think that's a good idea." He says

"I don't have anything keeping me here anymore." You say

"You don't want to try and work things out with Mal? What about your family? They will be pissed if you decide to do this." He says

"I've tried texting her and calling her and she never returns my calls or texts. If she wanted to work things out with me, she would have in the last two weeks. I need to move on and it's my life, my decision, if my family doesn't support that not my fault." You say

"I think you're making a rash decision. You should really think about this first before you decide this." He says

"I have thought about it, ever since my hand was fixed." You say

"Alright, get cleared by your doctor and send me the note and I'll process your papers." He says

"Sounds good, thanks B. I just got home, I'm going to head in and get unpacked." You say

"Alright, talk to you soon." He says before hanging up.

You put your phone into your pocket and grab your bag before heading to your apartment. You unlock your door to your empty apartment. You head to your room and take a look around. Everything was the same as it was before, except all of Mal's stuff was gone.  You unpack, throwing all your stuff in the washing machine before you hop in the shower. Once you get out, you head to the family room to make an appointment with your doctor. You were able to get one for tomorrow morning.

After that you do some house cleaning. To get out of the apartment and get your mind off of everything, you head to the grocery store to get some stuff to last you for the next week, since you could always come back if you end up not getting cleared to go back.

You head home and put everything away and decide to get started on packing your apartment up, since it keeps you distracted. After that you make some dinner that consists of chicken, Brussel sprouts and white rice. Once you finish dinner you do the dishes and spend the rest of the night watching Criminal Minds before heading to bed.

*Next Morning*

You wake up to the sound of your alarm.  You get up and get ready for the day. You had about a half hour before your doctor's appointment, and it was about a 20-minute drive from the apartment. You head straight there and wait about 5 minutes before going and getting checked in. You wait about 10 minutes in the lobby before getting called back. You go through the normal stuff, height, weight, blood pressure, temperature check all that stuff before you are seated in one of the rooms. You wait a bit before the doctor walks in.

Hey Y/n, its been a while, how are you doing? Asks Marin

"Hey Marin! I'm alright, thank you. How are you?" You ask

"Doing well, can't complain. I see in the notes you're here to get cleared to go back into the Army, is that correct?" She asks

"Yeah, now that my wrist and hand are better, I want to go back." You say

"What about soccer?" She asks

"I still love soccer, but I'd rather serve my country and with everything that's happened recently, I think its best I stay out of the media." You say.

"Very well, lets run some tests and I would like to get some blood tests done just to make sure everything is good. I will get that paper to you after were finished, its best if you go while fasting." She says.

"I will go do it after were finished here, since I haven't eaten anything. I wasn't sure if you wanted to do lab work today or not." You say

Marin does her exam and everything seems to be good.

"Alright, as long as your lab results come back fine, I think you're in perfect health to return to the Army." She says

"Thank you, I appreciate it." You say

"Is there anything else you wanted to talk about today?" She asks

"Nope, that was it thank you." You say

"Alright, I will give you a call once your test results come in. Should come in the next couple days." She says

"Sounds good, thank you again." You say

"Take care Y/n." She says

"You too." You say, giving a soft smile before exiting the room and heading back to the lobby.

You make your way back to the car and look at the list of labs, you pick the nearest one and head there. Since it was still pretty early, there was one person waiting. After just waiting a few minutes, a nurse comes and grabs you, the blood work took less than 5 minutes, and you were walking out of the office back to your car.

You stop at Starbucks on your way home to get a coffee and a breakfast sandwich.  You spend the rest of the day packing things up.
