No one's pov
You and Kara ended up sleeping through the dinner alarm and woke up at 5:00 am when your alarm went off.
"Shit we slept through dinner alarm all the way up until the morning alarm." You say
"I'm starving" says Kara rubbing her eyes and slowly standing before stretching.
"I think breakfast is at 0530, we could probably shower and grab something before we have to leave at 0600." You say
"Man I gotta get used military time again." Says Kara
"Same, it's been a long time since I've had to use It." You say with a chuckle.
"Alright let's go get showered before the hot water is gone." She says grabbing her shower bag, you grab yours and head to the bathroom, since It was so early It was just the two of you. You get out first and get dried off and dressed and Kara isn't to far behind you.
Once you are both ready to go you head to the chow hall to grab some breakfast. It looks like the rest of the group had the same idea. You all sit and talk and eat until it's ready to head out to the trucks.
"Alright team, I hope you got some good sleep last night because the mission is just getting started. It's a pretty long drive until we reach the checkpoint we need to be at. We don't want to get into trouble where we won't be able to get out. Keep your eyes open and watch each others backs when we are outside the truck." Says Barnes
We all pile into the truck and after a few hours we finally reach our destination.
"Alright, we're gonna go on foot from here on out. The team we are trying to rescue has been radio silent and there is a high possibility that the enemy has those radios. They could also be in the area and the truck can alert them. Like I said before. Eyes up and be alert and watch each-others back.
From our reports the truck that was ambushed is about 2-3 miles from here, let's clear It and we will go from there." He says
We all nod and step out of the trucks one by one. Each of us covering the other as they get out. We begin the walk to the ambush site. The streets were empty and very quiet. We reach It in about 2 1/2 hours It was around 1300.
"Alright split into pairs, let's clear the buildings before we head to the truck." Says Barnes
Kara and I head into one of the buildings and we begin clearing It with Barnes and another guy.
"Danvers, Press take upstairs. We will cover the downstairs." Says Barnes
Kara and I head up the stairs. She covers me from behind as I cover the front. We clear the 3 rooms.
"Clear!" Says Kara
"Clear!" Say yell after clearing the room you're in before you both head downstairs. Soon enough the area is clear and you all group up.
"Alright, I want two people to clear the trucks, the rest will cover the two people. It looks like it's going to be a tight fit. There might be deceased inside, please wear your masks. " Says Barnes
"You up for It? We're the smallest out of everyone else. " Asks Kara
"Let's do It." You say taking a deep breath.
"You don't have too Press, someone else can go." Says Barnes
"I got it, like Kara said we will have the easiest time getting in and out." You say
He shows us photos of all the people that were in the trucks so we could see who we found and who we still needed to find.
"Alright, let's go then." He says
You and kara head to the two trucks. You both open the doors and take a look inside. A terrible smell fills your nose and you cover your hand over your mouth.
"Three of ours deceased." You say though the radio.
"There's two in mine." Says Kara
"There's 3 more on the backside." Says another soldier.
"Each truck had six people in It, so there's 4 not accounted for. You don't have to touch the the bodies but is Pierce is one of the deceased? Asks Barnes
"Negative." Says Kara
"No, all three are male." You say backing out and closing the door to get some fresh air. Kara does the same and you both head back inside.
"Alright, we're you able to tell who was who?" He asks
You and Kara pull the people's photos you saw in the truck. Leaving the remaining in the middle of the table.
"Alright, It looks like they killed the men off and took the women. Let's take a break while I debrief the higher ups and I will let you now our next steps." He says before he walks into another room.
We all get out our MRE's and begin eating them while we wait. After about 20 minutes Barnes walks back out.
"We got the green light to continue our search. We have reason to believe that their compound is not to far away and that's were Pierce and the others could be.
Our best bet would be to hit them at night, so they don't see us coming. That gives us about 4 hours before the sun sets and gets dark. Eat up and get some rest, it will most likely be a long night ahead of us. I want one team to take watch and we will switch out. Just because we cleared the area doesn't mean they can't come back." He says
Everyone nods in agreement and continues to eat their food.
Wanna take first watch? Asks Kara
"Let's do It."
You and Kara take the first watch. After about an hour a team replaces you and the both of you get some sleep for the remaining couple of hours. Soon enough it's time to head out. It was dark and everyone was ready to go.
You all stay in formation and reach the compound after about an hour of walking. Everyone was hidden behind a wall.
Barnes peaks out with his night vision binoculars.
"Looks like they have two on each tower and 2-3 on the fence. Our best bet would be to scout out the other sides of the compound, to see what we're up against since we can't see who's inside. He says while he looks at the map.
Everyone splits up and checks the other sides and it's the exact same. They regroup and watch for a while. Every hour the shifts change. First the people on the wall go and then the people in the tower go.
"The wall is unmanned for about 45 seconds. We would need to be fast and quiet." You say
"It would take to much time to get over the walls." Says Barnes
"Y/n and I can get in clear the gaurds and open the gate." Says Kara
"No it's to dangerous." He says
"What if we shoot their lights out. Then they can't see us coming." Asks one of the guys
"They might not be able to see us but they will know we're here if we do that. Everyone will be on guard and we will probably be picked off one by one." Says Kara
