Around 10 minutes have passed and Kakine is still running within the large forest searching for the final missing child. It was at this point that he realized that Beatrice is right about this place being large. However, he still continued on without any intention of turning back.
Shortly after during this, he halted his movement as he caught onto something from the corner of his eye.

Upon further inspection, he finally found who he was looking for. The indigo-haired girl. Just like the other children, she is laying flat on her back in an unconscious state. The only sign indicating that she is alive is that she is exhaling weak and shallow breaths.
Kakine: "Damn brat. You sure are a pain in the ass."
The #2 muttered as he wanted to vent out his annoyance at this entire situation. He was about to internally question why she was separated from the rest of the missing children, but suddenly, he heard something that snapped him out of that line of thinking.

Kakine: "Hm?"
The sound of muffled crackling can be heard which alerted the esper. This caused Kakine to immediately turn his head towards the direction of the noise and noticed something step out of the darkness and placed its paws onto the forest leaves.

It was a wolf-like beast.
But unlike the wolves that are commonly depicted in his old world, this wolf had glowing red eyes, a line of spikes sticking out of its back and a single spiked horn on its snout.
Kakine: (Well that's a pretty sight...)
Despite the beast's intimidating appearance, the esper wasn't backing down and was simply looking at it with judging eyes.
Kakine: "...So this is a mabeast that girl was spouting. That's not the dog I'm looking for though..."
Surprisingly, the wolf-beast moved, but it didn't move to attack but instead, it returned back into the shadows and removed its presence. Even its glowing red eyes disappeared and ceased to nothing once its entire being reentered into the darkness.
From Kakine's perspective, he knew that the mabeast didn't leave. It was never that easy. He was back into the deadly game of predator versus prey.
