A/N: Okay I'm back after surviving a lot of exams, conferences and presentations! (I still have to prep for more of them after the Holy Week 🥲)

Without spoiling the plot, I can tell you the worst is done (I believe, from my POV at least), and y'all can breathe now. I know some of you have been patient with me with my indulgence of Taelice smut.

Coincidentally, I'm uploading this a day after Mingyu's birthday! 🥳

Please do comment. I love to know what you think.

Three times.

Believe it or not, in the midst of their years-old heated rivalry, there were three times that the proud Jeon Jungkook had attempted to shed his ego to make amends with Lalisa Manoban—and it was at the sincerest behest of Kim Mingyu.

"Come on, Jungkook. I'm tired of keeping my girlfriend and my best friend from being at each other's throats. You helped me get with Lisa 'cause you two used to be close, and now I want to help you two get back to the friends that you were."

Jungkook stared at Mingyu's outrageous text glaring at him through his phone, squinting at the bright light as he was getting off the mattress. Jungkook tutted to himself, remembering the conversation he had left hanging before allowing himself to be swept away by the exhilarating demands of the night club.

On the other side of the bed, he could make out the silhouette of the girl he had decided to spend the night with. Ah, the tattoo artist again. Should get her number this time. Might get one one of these days. He looked around as he put on his trousers. Apparently, she took him to her home.

It was a cold Saturday dawn on the first day of December 2018. He didn't have long to hightail it out of the area before sunrise and avoid being spotted. He snatched the signed NDA that had laid somewhere on the floor and put it in his pocket before typing a reply.

"Who said I wanted to be friends again?" Jungkook set his phone aside to put on his shirt. Not long after, he heard his phone ding.

"Jungkook, please just take the necklace and give it to her. Tell her you wanted to make up even if you don't mean it (yet). I can't have my future wife and my future best man try to off each other at my future wedding like what happened at my birthday party."

Jungkook remembered that day very clearly. Mingyu had rented out a cliffside villa in Jeju Island for an intimate celebration with his close friends, and while Jungkook was in a passionate squabble with Lisa, the clumsy woman had slipped over some mossy rock, and she took him down with her as they both fell ten feet onto the cold surface of the ocean. The rest of the day was spent with the resort's emergency medical services and some apologetic representatives of the resort management thereafter.

"Future wife?" Jungkook scoffed mockingly at his phone as he buttoned down his coat with his other hand, "Thinking that far ahead now, Gyu? How can you be so sure?"

"Fine, I'll do it. If it makes you shut up," Jungkook typed begrudgingly. "How the hell are you up this early?"

"Early morning jog," Mingyu texted back, "And I'm guessing right now you're bailing from someone you hooked up with last night?"

"Yeah. GTG." Jungkook affirmed before putting his phone in his coat pocket. From behind him he heard the mattress creak as the woman he was trying to escape from turned to his direction and sat up, clutching the sheets to her chest.
