Never Again [Parent Yang Xiao Long & Reader] [RWBY]

A/n: I wrote this back in the day, so forgive it if parts of this story are a little unhinged and cringe. 

It caused my physical pain to read through this as I posted it, the sequel is better I promise.

All: Happy Birthday!


The sound of party poppers filed the air along with some smoke as your son had just blown out his candle officially making him 5 years old.


Zac: This is the best birthday ever.


You smiled as you put your arm around your wife Yang.


(Y/n): Aren't you going to open your presents?


Zac: Cake first.


Yang: First time I've heard a kid choose cake over presents.


(Y/n): You and me both.


Zac: Hey uncle Jaune.


Jaune: Yeah?


Zac: When am I going to get any cousins?


You ran over to your son and covered his mouth before he could make the situation worse.


Jaune: U-Um...maybe I'll tell you after the honeymoon.


(Y/n): Way to make it awkward son.


Knock knock*


Yang: I'll-


(Y/n): I'll get, you focus on our children Sarah's been in her room for over an hour.


You walk over to the door and slowly open the door revealing some familiar faces namely: Ruby along with the rest of team NADY, and CFVY.


(Y/n): Dan.


Dan: Sup, sorry we're late.


Coco: You know how it is, I like to be fashionable.


(Y/n): You do look good.


Coco: See I told you it was worth it.


(Y/n): Worth what?


Dan: Being an hour late.


(Y/n): What's your excuse?


You said as you looked at Ashley, Ruby and Yumi.


Ruby: We carpooled with Dan.


Ashley: Are you gonna let us in? I'm freezing my butt of our here.


(Y/n): Come on in there's hot cocoa.


They all walk in but Zac takes notice of Ruby and the others coming in.


Zac: AUNTIE RUBY!


The next thing you knew Ruby was on the ground gasping for air. You managed to let out a chuckle but Pyrrha makes a gesture to peel off Zac from Ruby.


(Y/n): But he loves his auntie Ruby, more than his auntie Pyrrha for obvious reasons.


Jaune: Um (Y/n), could I talk to you for a second?


(Y/n): Yeah sure what's up?


Jaune: In private.


You nod and lead Jaune into the kitchen.


(Y/n): So what'd you wanna talk about?


Jaune: I'm sterile.


(Y/n): Dude! Seriously don't just blurt it out like that.


Jaune: I'm sorry but.


(Y/n): You haven't told Pyrrha have you?


Jaune: No and she thinks she's the one who's sterile.


(Y/n): That's an easy problem to fix.


Jaune: Really?


(Y/n): Yeah just tell her.


Jaune: I was sorta expecting you to give me some sort of un-sterilizing serum.


(Y/n): I could, but I risk bursting your balls.


Jaune: Truth then huh?


(Y/n): Yeah.


Jaune: Could you come with me?


(Y/n): Let's go.


You follow Jaune back over to Pyrrha after you peeled Zac off of Ruby.


Jaune: Um Pyrrha?

Yang opens her daughters room and sees her sitting at the edge of her bed.

Yang: Sarah honey.

Sarah: Hey mom.

Yang: Let's go downstairs everyone's looking for you.

Sarah: No they aren't, they're all there for Zac.

Yang: Sarah, you know they're here for both of you, you are twins after all.

Sarah: He's the favorite.

Yang: There are no favorites.

Sarah: Oh yeah?

Yang: Yes...you're not the only one in this house who felt that way.
Sarah: Oh, and who's that? You?

Yang: No, your father.

Sarah: Dad? Why him he doesn't have any siblings.
Yang: He's your aunt Pyrrha's brother.

Sarah: But dad's last name is Rosenbaltt not Nikos.

Yang: He was adopted, did I ever tell you that your aunt Pyrrha-

Sarah: Was a famous Huntress I know.

Yang: Yes, but that made Pyrrha the favorite not just at home, but wherever they went, people knew him as Pyrrha Nikos' brother.

Sarah: Wow, dad's had it rough huh?

Yang: Be thankful you aren't living your father's life.

Sarah: I am.

Yang: Give me a hug.

Yang wraps her arms around her daughter and Sarah starts to tear up on her mother's shoulder.

Yang: I love you so much.

Sarah: I love you too mom.

Yang: C'mon let's go downstairs.

Yang separated from her daughter and intertwined her fingers with yours.

Yang: What did I miss?

(Y/n): Jaune manned up, and admitted to Pyrrha that's he's shooting blanks.

Yang: Wow that's really brave, but no one is as brave as you.

(Y/n): Thanks babe.

You and Yang share a quick but tender kiss much to the protest of Zac.

Sarah: Hey.

Zac: Hey, where've you been?


Sarah: I was just thinking.

Zac: About what?

Sarah: About how good we've got it, but enough about me what've you been doing?

Zac: Trying to get aunt Ruby's attention.

Sarah: Still I thought we agreed that that's gross.

Zac: Dad said he used to make out with aunt Pyrrha.

Sarah: I was there when dad told you he said don't make out with your siblings, cause it's gross.

Zac: That sounds about right.


(Y/n): Could this nightly any better?

Yang: Oh Ruby said she was going to sleep over.

(Y/n): Not what I had in mind, and where's she going to sleep? we don't have any guest rooms.

Yang: She could sleep on the couch.

(Y/n): No that wouldn't be right, how about she sleeps with you in our room.

Yang: Are you okay with sleeping on the couch?

(Y/n): You kidding it's practically my second bed.

Yang: I'll make it up to you after Ruby leaves tomorrow.

(Y/n): You are the best wife.

Yang: I know.

The rest of the night had gone rather smoothly there was the occasional Nora tantrum and surprise boops, and Dan had drank to much resulting in there being a stain in the rug, but regardless you had fun.

~•~•~•~ Later 4: 30 am ~•~•~•~

Ruby has awoken to the sound of two familiar voices, she wanted to investigate she carefully got out of bed without waking Yang and cracked the door leading to the living room open enough so she could see the majority of the room.

Her eyes widened to what she was seeing in front of her, it was you and Sarah quietly arguing.
Sarah: Dad please don't go.

(Y/n): I have to it's my job.

Sarah: Can't you just call in sick?

(Y/n): I'll be back Sarah I promise.

You said as you wiped Sarah's tears away and pulled her into a hug, in the last sentence you had said Ruby didn't see you talking to Sarah, but her saying goodbye to her mother.

~•~•~•~ Patch 20 Years Ago ~•~•~•~

Ruby: Mom please don't go.

Summer: I have to I swore on my honor as a Huntress.

Ruby: I wanna be a Huntress when I grow up.

Summer: That's right always dream, but never forget what I taught you.

Ruby: A Huntress knows she's done good when she sees the smiles of all.

Summer: Good.

Ruby: Mom please come back home.

Summer: I'll be back Ruby I promise.

Ruby had walked over to Yang and had woken her up gesturing for her to get dressed.
Sarah: I love you daddy.

(Y/n): Daddy loves you too Sarah very much.

Sarah: Please come back safe.

(Y/n): I always do don't I?

Yang: No you don't.

(Y/n): What're you doing up?

Yang: I should be asking you the same thing.

(Y/n): Qrow asked me to do something.

Yang: Let me get the Ember Celica.

(Y/n): You're coming with me?

Yang: I'm not letting them go through what I went through.

(Y/n): What're you talking about?

Yang: I'm going with you, no way I'm letting our children experience the things Ruby and I went through.

Ruby: That's why we're coming with you.

You smile and nod, you and Yang then kneel down to Sarah's level and pull her into an embrace.

(Y/n): I love you.

Yang: We'll both comeback and we'll live together forever.

You, Ruby and Yang break the embrace and head out the door. Yang walks beside you and starts a conversation.

Yang: Why sneak out while I was asleep?

(Y/n): I didn't want you to worry.

Yang: Dummy I would've worried about you regardless.

(Y/n): So you and Ruby came with me so I would come back safe.

Yang: Yeah.

(Y/n): That says a lot about the amount of trust you have in my abilities as a Huntsman.

Yang: I don't mean like that.

(Y/n): I know you don't.

Yang: When we get back home we'll spend the rest of the week with the kids.

(Y/n): And they'll be happy with both parents.

Yang: I won't let them experience what I went through.

(Y/n): Never again right?

Yang: Never again.
