It had been almost been two weeks since Alexis had brought back Rosemary Winters's blood sample for Miranda. For the first few days after she had gotten back Miranda had practically forced her to stay in bed. Whenever Alexis would try to bring up the BSAA and Redfield, the priestess would interrupt her and just tell her that she would handle it but when asked about what she was going to do, Miranda would just tell her not to speak about work and focus on resting her injured arm.

After a few days of bedrest, Alexis managed to persuade Miranda that her arm was fine enough for her to walk around and work instead of laying in bed all day. She helped Miranda with her research as much as she could but Miranda didn't allow her to do much heavy lifting due to the stitches in her arm. Although she found her concern sweet but was also irritating. Miranda was treating her like glass ever since she had gotten back.

She was currently sitting in the library, reading a book that Daniela Dimitrescu and her girlfriend Dina had suggested to her. Whenever she had tried to read it something always came up but now with Miranda forcing her to take it easy, she was finally able to sit down and pick it up.

Right before the love interest of the story was about to confess her love for the protagonist while they ran from guards after breaking into a museum, the door to the library swung open and ripped her away from the book.

In the doorway was Miranda, she looked exhausted but excited. Alexis placed a bookmark in her book, setting it on the side table before standing up. The priestess smiled brightly as she approached. Before Alexis could ask her what she was so excited about, she kissed her. It caught her off guard but she almost instantly melted into the kiss as Miranda wrapped her arms around her.

Ever since she returned, Miranda had been unusually affectionate towards her. Everyday when she woke up for the past two weeks, Miranda had brought her breakfast in bed. Whenever she took a break from her work she'd seek out Alexis and spend sometime with her before leaving. At night, she'd cuddle with the young woman and play with her hair until they both slipped into sleep. It confused her at first but just chalked it up to Miranda feeling guilty about allowing her to get the blood sample.

They parted and Alexis couldn't help but let a dumb smile cross her lips when she saw the sparkle in Miranda's pale blue eyes. ''What got you so excited?''

''She's compatible! The strongest vessel I've ever come across! She's perfect!'' she smiled happily. Alexis couldn't help but let the moment overwhelm her and she picked the blonde up, spinning her around for a moment, laughing with joy before setting her down and resting their foreheads against one another. They both took a breath, Alexis hands resting on Miranda's hips and Miranda's arm loosely hanging from Alexis's neck.

They stared deeply into each other eyes, just letting the moment stay for a bit longer until they both realized how strangely romantic and intimate their positions were. Their cheeks flared red before they both hastily parted to compose themselves. Alexis heart was beating so fast she thought it would break her ribs. She took a moment to try to calm herself and it looked like Miranda was trying to do the same thing.

After a long moment, Alexis finally spoke. ''We should celebrate. Do you want me to grab some wine or are we feeling whiskey?''

''I wish I could, really I do.'' Miranda said with a somewhat sad smile which caused Alexis's smile to fade.

''What? What is it? The BSAA?'' she asked anxiously.

''No no, it's alright.'' Miranda reassured. ''I have to go for a while in order to bring Rose here.''

''For how long?''

''Until February at the earliest.''

Alexis's heart immediately dropped to the pit of her stomach. Her heart was beginning to hammer against her chest but not like it did previously with joy. It was replaced by anxiety. ''That's three months away.''
