A part of her had known since the moment Pandora had crumpled on the floor in a weeping heap that Regulus was gone, but Pandora's letter confirming the news hadn't make it any easier to handle.

At least she could talk about the news with James this time.

"Did you know Regulus Black at Hogwarts?" James asked as they ate their morning meal together.

"In a way," Lorelei answered slowly, thinking back to her brief moments with the younger boy, "He was quite intelligent."

An unreadable expression crossed James's face. Casually, almost too casually, he asked, "Didn't you have a tryst with him a few years ago?"

A ghost of a smile crossed her face, "It wasn't anything to write home about."

"I remember it being quite the topic back when it happened." James said, betraying his casual facade by pushing the topic.

A real smile grew roots as she examined his face, "Honestly the most memorable part of my interaction with Regulus was afterwards when you threatened me."

"I didn't threaten you." James denied.

"That's not how I remember it." Lorelei smiled knowingly.

They sat in content silence as Lorelei finished her meal.

"You know." James said as she dropped her plate in the sink. "I was thinking over what you said last week."

"Oh yeah?" Lorelei asked, mentally going over conversations he could be talking about, "What did I say?"

James sipped his coffee innocently, "Oh, just the one about how there was only one situation you'd ever consider marrying me for."

Smiling, Lorelei rejoined him at the table, leaning against it right next to where he was seated, "Really? And what further conclusions have you come to?"

Leaning back in his seat, James smirked at her, "I have a few ideas. None of them I'm willing to share just yet."

As James stood and trapped her between him and the table, she rushed out, "Before you try to baby trap me or something equally absurd, I will have you know that's not what I meant-"

James kissed her briefly to make her stop. "That's not what I meant either, but it's interesting that's where your mind went."

"With the way you're looking at me, one can never be too careful." Looking behind him at the clock, she gently pushed him away, "I've got to go." Giving him another brief kiss, Lorelei rushed out the door to work.

"Anything?"

Lorelei shook her head. "You?"

Pandora shook her head. "No."

"What about you Xenophilius?" Pandora asked.

"No, not yet."
