2014-2015

Jonathan Toews entered the North End entrance and walked into where Brad and Evelyn were. He looked like a nervous wreck. By now, she had saved him so much and so many times that he knew her real identity and her secret headquarters. He was the only mortal to know this though. And that made him even more valuable. But for some reason, he hadn't been the target this time. It had been Patrick Kane.

The redhead walked over, in her mortal form, a young adult look with jeans and a t-shirt and confronted him. "Alright, Jonny, you mortal, tell me word-for-word what happened with Kaner."

"Mortal?" Jonathan questioned. "I'm a human!"

"You're a normal human being and according to Brad, you're known as a mortal. Now what about Kaner!"

"Okay..." the Blackhawk trailed off, feeling awkward.

Brad eyed Jonathan, getting to his feet and folding his arms in front of him. He naturally wasn't one to have the "mortals" in the lair, but this was different and he was only just being extremely cautious as he should.

Evelyn looked at her superior and sent him a look. He rolled his eyes and sat down in his chair and spun around to his computer. She took Jonathan's arm and led him toward the back part of the room...it was more private here and they could communicate better with one another. Also, the heroine had the feeling that Jonathan Toews didn't want Brad knowing about this.

"Alright, Jonny," Evelyn prompted. "What's going on?"

Jonathan grabbed her by the shoulders and looked her in the eye. "I was going to tell Kaner about you and I, but when we went to head back inside, this-this hawk creature who was named Eric Strum showed up and attacked Patrick. I tried to stop him, but this guy Strum just didn't have it. He kidnapped Kaner and disappeared with him. The real strange part is that he was EXACTLY like your—"

"Like Black Hawk?"

"Yeah." The Captain of Chicago scratched behind his ears, nervously. "But we need to find Kaner. I can't play without him!"

Evelyn nodded. "You're probably right that you can't. Patrick's important to the Blackhawks' attack and team roster. I will help you."

"I knew you would!" Jonathan smiled.

"We on still for the date?"

"What about after we save Kaner and the NHL?"

"But Jonny, you know I've had this planned for us for a while. It's our one month anniversary of me and you and me saving you!"

"I know, but Kaner should come first."

"I guess you're right!" She looked down at her feet and shuffled them nervously. She knew that they would have the date still. They could hurry up and save Kaner too. It would work out and is was their annual anniversary.

Jonathan smiled sweetly and wrapped his arms around his superhero girlfriend and pulled her close to him. Evelyna pressed her lips to the hockey players' and they began to kiss and make out, before a snorting sound interrupted them.

"Evelyn! There is no time for that nonsense!" Brad Hawkley snapped. "Now, I have some gadgets and whatnot for you, but I suggest you get help for this case."

"Why?"

"It sounds like there might be some Russian issues."

"Russian?"

"Yes. I did some looking into this Eric Strum guy. If you want to speak about private matters, you need to find somewhere else, because I could hear everything you said. But no matter...seems like he's quite a dirty scum in the KHL. If he's kidnapped Kane, I fear that there is something huge going on here."

Jonathan looked at the manager guy. "Of course there's something huge going on! Kaner was kidnapped! Duh!"

"Mr. Toews, as a leader of a hockey team in the NHL, I would expect you to be more conscious of your blatant envy and also more considerate of what I am telling you. Do not disrespect me."

"Sorry." Jonathan looked down at his feet.

Evelyn patted him, pouting her lip.

Brad continued to speak once more. "Because it appears like this is KHL and Russian based, I suggest you contact your little Russian friend from Dallas and get his help?"

"Nichy?" I questioned.

"Valeri Ivanovich Nichushkin, yes."

"Nichushkin?" Jonathan complained. "But he's a Dallas Star! He's a rival of mine."

"He's my friend, Jonny and we will need him. C'mon, Nichy's a great guy!"

"But he's a Star!"

"Better than a Blues player, eh?"

Jonathan wrinkled his nose. "Okay, you're right...you win."

The redhead giggled and tapped the brunette's nose with her index finger. "You're crazy and adorable Jonny!"

"Evelyn! Focus, woman!" Brad spat.

She apologized, but grabbed the centre's hand into her own and followed the older man over to his computer.

"Don't forget about your other friend, Brooke. She's going to be value with her brains and smarts," Brad added on, as he pressed a button on the panel.

There was a door in the panel area. He opened it and pulled out some walkie-talkie watches (four of them - even though Evelyn already had one), a can of some sorts with unknown and apparently deadly toxins, some mini pucks (or small black disks) and a few other spy-type stuff that would be useful.

Jonathan and Evelyn were passed the items, which they each put into a single bag, which was carried by Jonathan. They bid Brad farewell and were off to find the heroine's friends. One of the friends was the girl named Kelly MacKinnon, who was still in the headquarters, but had gone off to a separate area to practice her telepathy and "fire powers."

Brooke Johnson and Val Nichushkin were the other two friends.
