➳ number one: hints, hints are the same both souls of the pair
➳ hints include: not seeing a certain colour until meeting each other, not being to smell a certain smell, red strings, symbolic tattoos, first touches, first words, writing (only one person is able to write)
➳ these hints come into place at what is considered the right time, usually after they are eighteen (hints appearing after eighteen is very, very common)
➳ sometimes, these hints really really early on in life (if this is the case, the hint will always be a symbolic tattoo) - these are soulmates paired by the universe itself
➳ all other soulmates are paired by a specialist team of higher ups who read through their profiles as individuals and pair them up accordingly
➳ number two: soulmates typically have 21 days to act upon the hints. after this period, the hints are withdrawn and replaced with an initial tattoo across some part of the body OR the hint is lost to the system
➳ people who lose their hints the first time may have another chance but VERY VERY RARELY
(people who have been given the hint of writing find it particularly difficult to find their soulmate as one writes and the other sees it on their hand but cannot write back - finding their soulmate is a physical trek.)
➳ number three: soulmates aren't assigned to be romantic or platonic, it is up to the two. However, when they are paired, the team that put them together have a vision in mind, it is encouraged/advised but not at all forced upon them. Their fate is entirely within their hands, the higher-ups don't get involved but are aware of everything that goes right and wrong.
