Jade leaned against the tree trunk and forced herself not to gasp as she listened to everything they were saying. That couldn't be true, they had to be messing with her. She held her breath and forced herself not to move. Her head was filled with so much confusion right now.
Hearing the door shut she waited a couple of minutes then carefully stood. Watching her step, she walked out on the branch then placed her foot on the windowsill. Grabbing the sides of the window she climbed back into her room.
"Shit," she cursed spotting the group of men in her room.
"Jade," Corey said sadly. "Why did you—"
Just then there was a knock on the door. "Excuse me," she murmured as she squeezed past the men. "Yes?" She asked opening the door to find the resident manager standing in the doorway with a huge smirk on her face.
"Here," she said shoving an envelope in her face. "Can't say you will be missed Loser."
"What?" Jade asked confused.
Corey took the envelope and opened it, "Call Owen, Axel, and Victor now," Corey demanded handing Kota the letter. "Jade?" he asked taking in her confused and shocked look. "Jade?" he asked when she didn't respond. He gently put his finger under her chin and turned her to face him "DreamKitten?"
"Huh?" she asked in a daze.
"Let me take care of this," he spoke softly because he knew one wrong thing and she would bolt.
"Huh?" she asked again.
"They just kicked her off campus," someone in the background said, snapping her back into reality.
"What?" she gasped. "They can't! I...I...I—"
"Jade," Corey said grasping her hand. "Let me take care of this, please."
"Come on, we're going down to the headmaster's office now," Kota said sliding his phone back into his pocket. "They are going to meet us there."
"I got class," Jade shook her head, "I...I need to get my things together, I have to get to class."
"No Sweetie, you don't," Corey shook his head.
"Yes I do," she protested. "I know my classes," she tried to pull her hand out of his. "Let go."
"No," he shook his head again. "I'm not losing you again."
She yanked her hand free and glared at him, "You can't lose something you never had," she threw back at him. "Now get out, I have to get ready for class."
"You don't have class Jade," Corey said patiently. "Now, grab your purse, we need to go speak to the headmaster about them trying to kick you off campus for no reason."
Her phone started ringing, startling her. "Hello? What? Yes Sir, I'll be right there." She shut her flip phone and pinched her nose. "Please leave, I have to leave."
"Where are you going, Sweetie?" Corey asked with concern. She took a shaky breath and shook her hands then slowly let it out. Inhaling again and holding it, she shook her hands again before letting it out. "DreamKitten," Corey said taking her hands in his and intertwining their fingers. "Look at me," he gently commanded. "I'm here, you're okay," he said placing her hands on his jean jacket with patches on it. He ran her fingers over the patches over and over to help ground her. "You're okay, now where are we going?"
"Headmaster," she whispered staring into his blue eyes.
"Okay," he nodded, "and then how about some Arbys with Wendy's chocolate frostys afterwards?"
"Not hungry," she shook her head. "Class..." she whispered, "work."
"How about we play it by ear?" Corey asked.
Her phone started ringing and she jumped in surprise, "Shit," she whispered pulling herself out of his grasp. "Leave me alone," she said rushing out the door.
"Oh no you don't," Corey said catching up with her. He grabbed her hand and laced their fingers together. "I'm not losing my DreamKitten again, especially since she's a frightened kitty kat right now."
She looked at him in shock and tried to pull her hand free when she saw all the people staring at them, but he just tightened his grip on her and smiled at her fondly.
They walked the rest of the way in silence and once they appeared in front of the office building, he turned to her, "You aren't alone in this Jade. We are with you, just try and trust me, okay?"
"But why?" she asked in confusion.
He smiled fondly at her as he pushed a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, "Man, I miss your purple hair," he whispered as if she wasn't supposed to hear that. A slight blush appeared on his cheeks when he saw her eyes widen at the admittance, "Because you are my best friend," he admitted. "You knew me and accepted me before you actually knew who I was. I could be myself with you and you didn't judge me one bit or try to befriend me to just use me because of who I am or who my family is. You got me and I'm trying to show you that I'm the same way with you. I don't care how you dress my little DreamKitten, well, I do," he sighed, "I mean I accept you for you. I want you to dress how you want to dress and listen to the music you want to listen to, I want you to trust me and tell me these things so I can know you better. I know you are scared that you are going to lose me if you show me your true self, I get why you ran but I'm standing right here in front of you trying to tell you that you aren't going to lose me, no matter what you show me or how much you try to push me away because you're scared. I'm not going anywhere, WE aren't going anywhere."
Her breath hitched and she cleared her throat, "I have to go inside now."
He chuckled and kissed their laced fingers, "Alright smartass, you knew what I meant. Let's get this over with so I can get some food in that way too skinny stomach of yours."
He gently pulled her into the building and up to the second floor office. The receptionist nodded for them to go inside.
She tensed as she saw the rest of the Blackbourne Toma group inside facing the headmaster, even Mr. Blackbourne, Mr. Toma, and Mr. Morgan were there. Mr. Blackbourne cleared his throat, "Fine, if that is the way this campus wants to be, then here," He took the stack of papers from Mr. Morgan and tossed them down on the desk, "Here is our resignations and transfer papers, we are through."
